Jane Karla Gogel of Brazil won her third title in the compound women open event at the Parapan American championships in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
“To be able to bring this medal here, in my beloved Brazil, is incredible,” commented Gogel. “I’m very, very happy.”
The gold medal match was a rematch of the past championship in Santiago between Gogel and Chilean and Paralympic runner-up Mariana Zuñiga.
Gogel started with a one-point lead that grew to four by the end of the fourth end.
Those four points were lost in the last end and both archers tied the match with 136 points.

Colombia and the United States claimed the Olympic slots available in the team competitions at the Pan American Championships in Medellin, Colombia.
The Pan American Championship was held immediately following the continental Olympic qualifying tournament. Two hundred and fifteen archers competed for the continental titles, as well as for team and individual Olympic slots for the World Games.
The recurve team events attracted everyone’s attention as they would award tickets to Paris.

Mexico, Colombia, the United States and Guatemala earned spots for the Chengdu 2025 World Games during the Pan American Championships in Medellin.
The Pan American Championships were held immediately after the Continental Quota Tournament for the Olympic Games. Two hundred and fifteen archers competed for the continental titles, as well as for team and individual Olympic slots for the World Games.
Alexis Ruiz of the United States, Dafne Quintero of Mexico and Sara Lopez of Colombia won the slots for their countries in the compound women’s category.

Medellin hosted the Individual Continental Qualifier for Paris 2024 from April 7 to 9, with the participation of 37 men and 31 women in search of two spots in each gender.
Nicholas D’Amour from Virgin Islands, US and Santiago Arcila of Colombia won all their matches to reach the final for first place, thus securing an Olympic quota for their respective countries.
The South American defeated his Caribbean opponent by a score of 6-2.

Jane Karla Gogel of Brazil and Samuel Molina of Mexico set a new Para Pan American Championships record in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Gogel qualified first in the compound women open with 678 points, two points higher than her previous record in Santiago 2022.
“Even when I get a good score, I always demand more and more from myself,” commented Gogel.
“The competitors are very prepared and are also doing a great job to achieve high scores. I have to keep pushing myself to the maximum and not lose my concentration during the tournament.”

The General Assembly of World Archery Americas was held in the city of Medellin, Colombia, on April 11 with delegates from 30 National Federations.
The assembly commenced with President Maria Emma Gaviria’s roll call, confirming the quorum and opening the session. Her opening speech welcomed participants warmly, setting a collaborative tone for the meeting.
World Archery Secretary General, Tom Dielen gave his message by video, highlighting the significance of the assembly, the upcoming Pan American Championships, and the successes in Para Archery.

Brazilian archer Luciano Rezende won a spot for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games at the Fazza World Ranking Tournament in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Rezende earned Brazil’s place in the recurve open men’s category after finishing first in the last qualification tournament.
This makes a total of 18 places won for the Americas at the Paralympics in Paris, a number that may increase after the reallocation of some of the last slots and the awarding of bipartite spots in April.
