Lucy has sewn this stunning Irma Meadow blouse as a gift for her Mum’s birthday – what a lucky Mum! Handing you over to Lucy to hear all about her process:
“No one does florals quite like Liberty do and Irma Meadow is no exception! Alice’s new colour way of this intricately detailed design features the softest shades of pinks and greens alongside some much punchier shades. I think this gives it a really special dynamic and a true sense of a wildflower meadow. Some of the beautiful flowers featured in Irma are particular favourites of my mum’s so, with her birthday coming up, I decided to use ..read more

We love English paper piecing here at Alice Caroline. It’s a lovely hand-sewing technique that is incredibly addictive!
Here are our top tips for English paper piecing:
Get comfortableBefore starting EPP, find a really comfortable sewing position. Posture is incredibly important when you are sitting and hand-sewing for hours. Time seems to stand still when EPP-ing and you don’t want to give yourself a bad back or shoulder. Placing your work on a cushion to elevate it to your natural arm level can really help with this.
Planning is keyArrange all of your paper pieces out on your fabric ..read more

Dawn from the studio has been very busy doing lots of EPP to make this lovely rainbow Liberty table runner. What a great way to showcase all of your favourite fabrics and use up all of your fabric scraps too!
“I recently made a full size quilt using Alice’s ‘Snowflake’ EPP pattern (click here to read the blog) and I was left with quite a few of the Hexiform pre -cut shapes. Hexiform is a brilliant thing to use with the fine Tana Lawn as it gives a nice ‘puffy’ finish and as it’s slightly padded I thought it would be good to make some form of table mat or table protector.”

Liberty was a key part of the development of the Arts and Crafts movement which spanned from 1880 to 1920. The store provided a place for artists to showcase their work and regularly organised exhibitions, lectures and workshops to champion the values of craftsmanship and individuality. Liberty established strong relationships with independent artisans who were involved with the movement and actively supported emerging artists, furniture makers and designers.
William Morris was one of the Artisans that collaborated with Liberty. This partnership demonstrated the essential role that Liberty ..read more
