A question about cable routing and tank removal on 22+ XSR

I want to run a couple of cables (for a USB cell and/or dash cam charger, and another for additional DRLs) from a power block under the seat to up front. I'm relatively comfortable with electrical stuff, though I hate it, and much much better with plain ole mechanical tasks- I'm old. And FWIW pretty AR about a lot (old again), including aesthetics/appearances in addition to absolutely mechanically sound results. I found a reasonable somewhat visible route rear to front following at first... A question about cable routing and tank removal on 22+ XSR ..read more

1st Gen Triple Clamp Replacement

Hi all, Looking for an aftermarket triple clamp replacement for my 2016. First go at sourcing something was unsuccessful. Problem is, other than the fork tube diameter, I'm not sure how to confirm compatibility. I installed a key switch eliminator and am doing some other mods that will expose the triple clamp more and am curious what non-stock options are out there. Have any of you installed an aftermarket triple clamp, or know where / how I should be looking for one ..read more

Question on AIS and smog

Hello everyone! Just got a 2016 and noticed something interesting while inspecting it. I know the bike had the ecu flashed and the ais was removed. The weird thing is the two smog ports are connected to eachother with an hose instead of blocked off. Anyone ever heard of this? my understanding is usually each smog port is connected to the Ais valve and then another hose connects from the top of the Ais To the airbox. Bike runs great so I’m not sure if I should be concerned and buy actual... Question on AIS and smog ..read more

XSR900 Headlight Front Cowl/Fairing?

Guys, I saw a post on Facebook, saying that Yamaha had discontinued the XSR900 front cowl/fairing. So I went to the Yamaha EU site this morning, and it is no longer listed in the accessory section. It had been listed a few months ago, just saying it was back ordered. The only color that was available at the time was black. So I bought one and repainted it blue. I'm glad I did. The real downside, is that If any of us that have the fairing, damage it, we can't get a replacement. Brian [ATTACH... XSR900 Headlight Front Cowl/Fairing ..read more

Lowering link?

I know this is geometry blasphemy to talk about using a lowering link on the XSR, but has anyone here done it? Did the "wreck" the handling for regular street use? (not talking about street racer or track use) I'm talking going down 1"max, not the silly 4" the link is capable of providing for profiling or drags? A softer saddle with no loss in foot-ground purchase would be a great thing. [URL... Lowering link ..read more

How would the 2022 XSR 900 compare with the Ducati Super Sport 950 S?

I have an XSR 900 and have sat on the Ducati. The Duc was pretty comfortable and sweet looking. I'm wondering if the aerodynamics make any noticeable difference? I wanted to rent one to try riding it but no luck in Phoenix. On paper seems like similar output, except maybe more vibrations in the ducati, similar torque and horsepower. I"m sure the Yamaha maintenance is much cheaper etc. Interested in anyone's input ..read more

Bar end weight question

When I removed the bar end weight to install a Rizoma adapter and Oberon mirror (all aluminum vs steel) my steering felt lighter and seam to “fall” in the turn in a bad way, at low speed anyway, I can’t recall at high speed. I’ve been searching to find out if bar end weight influence handling but I can’t find anything. Anywhere. So, just wondering if anyone felt this or if it’s in my head like a placebo effect. Might try to put them back on to test it sometime this summer. Sent from... Bar end weight question ..read more
