I've written a paper on the fine tuning argument and would welcome any thoughts or comments. Ideally, I would like to get it published in a journal, so if anyone has any specific feedback in that regard, I would greatly value it. I've set up a feedback session on PhilPapers, if anyone is interested (or just comment here):

Hi there
Its taken me a few minutes to decide whether to post this anonymously - but i decided against that, so this is me. Im an atheist, and i am an Alcoholic. If you recognize my user name from around boards thats fine.
IN BRIEF: Iv known for some time that i have a problem with Drink, but i managed to stay off it for years. Unfortunately i had a serious bad run of luck with Covid, losing my routine, losing my ability to workout. And i started drinking again, and very quickly it spiraled. I reached a point where i had to admit its not a drink problem. Its that i am an alcoholic. I decided t ..read more

Hi all
Unfortunately, a for many reasons my child is in a Catholic school. It’s hard to express how upset this makes me feel. I’m so very sad about it all, I have to say.
So now she’s put to reading for 30 minutes, I’m keen to ensure it’s a time where I can intertwine some philosophy or humanism or Christopher Hitchens during that time. She loves reading and is a great reader.
Would welcome any suggestions. Thanks all ..read more

Hi guys,
If this is already covered please do point me to the correct thread
Myself and my other half (not married) are currently expecting out first wee human and are super excited. Both Catholics (by the actions of out parents) but not interested in any organised religion. I'd like to think there's more to the world than this, but I'm unable to believe in a god... I've tried.
We have been chatting about christening and stuff and I'd like to ask you good people what it looks like to be a non-religious family trying to get a school place etc. Do you know if there are many non-religious kid ..read more

I think this now warrants a thread of its own outside the Decline of Religion thread. It's not so much about the decline of the religion, but what happens to its vast assets.
Plenty of stories recently about the RCC seeking to rezone lands. They own an astonishing amount of unused and underused land in and around towns and ciites, in Dublin in particular this land is potentially worth a fortune.
You may not be able to read some of these without a subscription but you get the gist just from the headlines.

So I seen the image below elsewhere. Is the question badly phrased or am I being too literal. It asks "what is your religion, if any". To my mind you only tick a box if you don't have a religion. That AI need to put an explainer telling people they need to tick the "No religion" box backs up my position I think ..read more

My kids are 5 and 3 and absolutely love bedtime stories. I am raising them secularly, but want to introduce them to biblical stories and references so that they are well oriented in the history of western civilization.
To do this, I’ve decided to lead the way with a collection of Greek myths and legends.

I will do the same with Nors ..read more
