I recently decided to start working on my own guns. I have purchase a gunsmithing punch set that includes starter punches. I have watched videos on how to use the set to start roll pins, but have an issue that I can’t find a video on. Once I choose (what I think) is the correct starter punch and insert the pin, the pin disappears into the punch. The next size smaller will not allow me to insert the pin at all. What am I doing wrong or do I need a special punch for this ..read more

Hello! I’m on my second AR-15 build and I’ve ran into a problem. I have a 10 inch free float handgaurd and a 14.5 in barrel. The hand gaurd is too long to where I can’t get my A2 gas block on all the way. I was going to cut the hand gaurd to the correct length so my A2 gas block and go fully on. Any recommendations of how much to cut off. Thank you ..read more

I bought an EOTech EXPS (green reticle) and a Velocity 3lb trigger awhile back but they didn’t have a home … yet. Generally, I’ll decide what I want the firearm to do and then decide on the parts to make that happen. In this case I started with the optic and this really cool trigger group and thought “what could I build” to compliment these two items. The optic is heavy {really heavy}, so that kinda forced me to look for weight savings. While that trigger just begged for an accurate barrel... Last month's AR build ..read more

Is there a bad thing to be said about them? I'm looking into building my first ar15 this spring and it looks like palmetto state is a good route to take. Especially considering I'm on a bit of a budget. Who out there has some experience with them ..read more

I have an AR with a 12.5inch barrel. I've seen what the ATF has said about SBR's with the tax stamp and all the drama with putting a stock on them. But what I've seen is they keep going back and forth. One month you can put a stock on it then the next month you can't. So I'm just curious if I can take this SBR to the range with a stock on it. And does it have to be registered? In my state AR's don't have to registered but the ATF says SBR's do. I'm just very confused about the whole thing. I... SBR ..read more

So I’m building a second AR, and this time I’m doing it the right way since my first build, I struggled and it was a frustrating experience. Didn’t have all the right tools, so I had to improvise a lot along the way and it took me an entire day to finish. Yes it fired perfectly fine, but it didn’t take long till parts such as the buffer tube started to come loose because I didn’t have an armorers wrench and the right tools. Understanding the platform really well and having a ton of... Building an AR, so excited ..read more
