Garage door out of alignment question

I hope this is the correct place to post this . I couldn't figure out how to post under the ASK Doors Done right link. I have a double door (18'). sectional door wood clad. The left side of the door (outside looking in) gets stuck about 4 inches from the bottom and reverses. It appears that the right side is about an inch lower than the left. How do I adjust the door height on the low side? Thank you ..read more

Cheap Garage Cabinets

A project I have been putting off for years is fixing storage options in my garage. It's a 2-car garage and we have 2 cars so "stuff" gets crammed around the walls. I have 2 shelves along a wall (12 linear feet at a guess) and a bunch of wall mounted hooks on the opposite wall. Bikes hanging from a hoistable rack above the car hoods (8' ceilings, so need to duck underneath when the car are pulled out). The stuff being stored is tools, cans of paint, canning supply's, sport stuff (e.g. a pile... Read more ..read more

Spiders

How many others have spiders in their garage, run into cobwebs or get bitten by the critters? Do any of you use an electric ultrasonic critter control device such as https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XHJG8CW/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 The review of these devices on Amazon are mostly 4 stars and higher. But admittedly many reviews are in English as a second language which draws some suspicion. So I'm asking garage aficionados their experiences ..read more

I had a garage/shop built. I am working on finishing it off myself. The inside is thin sheet metal and there a gaps of various sizes around the 3 windows. The shop has a lot of flies in it, and I was wondering about sealing/caulking the gap around the windows, wondering if that might help the fly problem, or simply make it look a little better or insulate. It is hard to take pictures of the windows because of the light coming in. But I am including a few. I am looking for advice on what to... Read more ..read more

I'm planning for the build of a small tool shed, to store my lawnmower, rakes, gardening stuff, table saw, and a few other odds and ends, and have run into a bureaucratic nightmare. I'm going to do one of those "precut" wooden shed kits, primarily because lumber prices are horrifying right now. I really don't want to put it on treated wood foundation, but would rather put a nice little 4" concrete slab down. Here's where the issues are starting. Since it is bigger than 120 square feet, I... Restoring Rusty Tow Chains

Hey All, I'm in the process of restoring some old rusty tow chains. They have been sitting in buckets of vinegar for almost two weeks now, and are almost completely down to bare metal. My question is, does anyone have an idea as to what I could use to coat the bare metal with!? I don't think paint would work very well getting in-between all the links. I was thinking of just soaking them in diesel, oil would be real messy. Any thoughts ..read more

Workshop lighting, looking for LED with removable/replacable bulbs

Hello, I need to replace some old lighting in my workshop and add some additional fixtures. I have changed out some of the old fluorescent bulbs for LED tub lights. This has worked in most cases. I need to add some fixtures in a few places. Some of these will be rather short (1'-2'). I am looking for fixtures with LED bulbs that can be replaced. So many of the LED fixtures are designed to throw away when the bulbs stop working, which is idiotic in my opinion. I would like bright lights... Read more ..read more

Workshop heating suggestions

Hi. I'm looking for some advice on heating my pole barn (workshop/garage). I live in SouthWest Michigan, so temperatures can get quite cold in the winter (although temps have certainly changed since I was a kid!). We recently built a pole barn that will double as a garage/workshop, and I'm determining what would be best for a heating solution. Wood is cheap, but I don't want to have to go out and start a fire every time I want to work in the barn. I don't mean to sound lazy, but I'm just... Read more ..read more
