I met General George Washington at this wedding reception, my second silhouette event of the day (which is a career first!) held on an estate in Valley Forge National Park. It's always a surprise to see who turns up to my gigs! Unfortunately I did not get a chance to cut his silhouette. :-( I started out cutting silhouettes on the patio for cocktail hour. Look at that TREE !!! Here's another view of it, with the couple! I was very, very busy here so once again I didn't stop to take photos, At the end, I flipped through the full guestbook so I could enjoy results...you can see this on my IG ..read more

Our local campus of PSU really keeps student morale up with lots of fun events. This one was outdoors and it started under slight rain showers, but it brightened up by the end. I shared a tent with the tarot card lady, who ended up reading palms because it was too breezy for cards.  Here are some of the slightly damp students who came out to get a caricature ..read more

This giant distribution facility had an after-Easter party for kids of employees...lots of fun was had by all! The Bash facilitated this one, and my wonderful client had this to say soon after:  "Emily was truly amazing!! Everyone that attended the event loved their caricatures. The hostess loved it so much she is planning on having her for her niece's Sweet 15 ..read more

This surprise 40th birthday party was so fabulous...the wife had everyone standing outside their home, cheering when the husband came home from golfing!   A food truck was ready and waiting! And so was the caricature artist. I was set up in the family room, in view of the tv---which was tuned to the Phillies 2024 Opening day game.....deja vu, I was drawing there exactly twenty years ago! And so here's where I was twenty years later: ( even on very similar chairs! Here's a few of the guests: Finally, here are the happy birthday boy and his wife. After receiving his caricature  ..read more

And it's not caricatures (plural) because I was so busy drawing dozens of little-kid guests, that I only got a few photos of the birthday girl at her pastel-Disneyfied party. Her mom did a great job with sourcing beautiful cookies, balloons, a face painter, a pink bounce house and my caricatures (which came via The Bash)! When I saw the miniature Mercedes right on front of me of course I had to draw Baby Girl in it! Thank you for having me and happy 1st birthday Iyla ..read more

I hadn't been in this building since I was a child in the 1970's.....when my class went to see the Christmas display here after visiting the Franklin Institute.  And I had never been to its flagship restaurant on the 9th floor...til Thursday, when I arrived to draw caricatures at a 1000-guest gala fundraiser event. The law firm of Zarwin Baum was raising funds for Philabundance at a huge March Madness cocktail party, and it was so much fun! Spot the artist!! They certainly had my favorite Philly vice for sustenance!! Thank you for having me ..read more

Swarthmore College Silhouettes

This was a VERY special silhouette event, as the McCabe Library at Swarthmore College brought out some antique 18th-century Quaker silhouettes from their Special Collections to share with students and faculty. This was to fit into the theme of "Body Liberation" week on campus. Having this artist there to cut live silhouettes was the icing on their cake!   I will be going back in the summer to visit, so I can really spend some time looking at some of these precious works of art... and some very scholarly books on the subject (just couldn't do so on this day, as I was non-sto ..read more

Silhouettes at the Delaware Bridal Expo

I spent a lovely Sunday afternoon cutting silhouettes of future brides (and others!) at the Delaware Bridal Expo, held at the Chase Center on the Riverfront. It was slow to start, then chaotically busy. My husband was along to take photos and chat up folks in my massive line! Many of the people I chatted with had never seen a live silhouette artist, and had no idea it could be done as entertainment/wedding favors at receptions. I gave out so many business cards I was worried I wouldnt have any left! My husband took a lot of time-lapse videos, which I will be putting up on my Youtube whe ..read more

Thousand Acre Farm Bridal Show--Silhouettes

My 60th birthday on Sunday saw me happily cutting silhouettes in the barn loft, at  Thousand Acre Farm near Delaware City, Delaware. This show was a much more intimate affair than the recent huge one I also participated in...but I've already gotten a gig from it, yay! I had a little friend who was interested in watching me set up! This time, I limited the silhouettes to just brides , and I was still slammed the whole time! Here are a few: Thank you for having me and hope to be back doing weddings at this gorgeous venue! Can you spot the silhouettist in this photo? Final ..read more
