Oh, have the mighty fallen, as with Wonder Woman in this week’s newest issue. Wonder Woman #8 is a comic that reveals what The Sovereign is capable of and how his point of view is heavily focused on chauvinism and “Christian” ideals. It’s an issue that’s brutal to read but also frightening, as his point of view isn’t exactly rare in modern times. Wonder Woman #8 opens with Diana leaning down and opening an oven. She’s in a domestic lifestyle and appears to be doting on her husband, Steve Trevor. Once you gain your wits after being completely shocked by her incredibly alien situation, you’ll n ..read more

‘Jay Garrick: The Flash’ #6 review

It’s the second time I’ve encountered Jeremy Adams’ departure from a Flash book, and I must say, DC Comics should reconsider this practice. Adams’ optimistic perspective shines through his characters’ voices, a trait that resonates perfectly with the Flash characters. In my opinion, the Flashes are the most positive and spirited heroes in the DC Universe. I’ll also miss the additional appearances of the Justice Society of America characters, as Adams and artist Diego Olortegui have skillfully integrated them to aid the Garrick family. So, how does this miniseries wrap up a portion of the New ..read more

Green Lantern War Journal #8 follows the threefold story of John Stewart fighting away a dark horde in the far reaches of nowhere, an alternate universe Kyle Rayner reaching out to Guy Gardner for backup, and the safety of John’s mother being threatened back home. Stuck inside a gravity storm, John is the only line of defense for a group of alien people in the face of the coming horde. It is interesting to see John juggling being a hero, being seen as a messiah by the people he protects, and his desire to go back home and simply be by his mother’s side. While this is happening, alternate Kyle ..read more

That’s right—it’s a Lobo and Superman team-up issue! Superman #13 opens outside a Coastal City bar where folks are clearing out. Marvel Comics has revealed that comic legend Chris Claremont will return with a new Wolverine miniseries called Wolverine: Deep Cut. DEEP CUT is going to finally step ..read more
