Welcome back to another installment of Gutters: Comic gab for life in between the panels. With all of the speculation involving upcoming films and the recent Ultimate universe FOMO happening, I thought I would discuss something less obvious. I want to highlight a series that has potential to garner more speculation in the future, but also deserves its flowers as a long running series that helped start a whole publishing company. Dark Horse Presents (by Dark Horse Comics) is a comic in the same vein as DC’s Showcase or Marvel’s Spotlight series and lasted 200 issues. So, let’s go over a handful ..read more

Welcome to a new edition of Variant Heat Check. There’s been something missing from these since I brought it back and I finally realized what it was. The actual Heat Check Ranking. So I’ve instituted a 5 star type system based on the most recent sale so you have some context on how the book is currently performing.
I figured its time to bring this back working with my buddies over at SNS to bring you a spotlight on about four variants each week.
This week, I have a 1:15, a 1:25, and a 1:50. Plus we have one definite Cold variant that was once very hot but has fallen on hard time ..read more

Welcome to a new column that will spotlight some comics that didn’t quite make the Hot 10 List. Think of this as the honorable mentions and some comics that may not qualify for the regular Hot 10 List.

If you haven’t noticed, I do not include any Exclusives on the Main List (Store, Convention, or otherwise). I just don’t feel its equ ..read more

1 Uncanny X-Men Annual #14
WRITER: Chris Claremont
COVER ARTIST: Arthur Adams
Its been over a week now, so we can spoil the fact that Gambit gave his life in Ep 5 of X-Men ’97. Sacrificing himself to save Rogue and the rest of the mutants on Genosha, for whatever reason, his 1st appearance is moving.
Most refer to this as the 1st Cameo appearance, but regardless, this one is gaining more steam than the alternative as Raws are now averaging more than $40, which is up from $20-25 the last few weeks. The high Raw sale was closer to $60, and a CGC 9.6 Newsstand even sold for $500 this w ..read more
