Every day, DSAA works closely with other emergency services to deliver care to sick and injured people across our region, in whatever setting they find themselves in. This includes along our coastal areas, where we collaborate with organisations like the RNLI. The more we can understand each other’s capabilities and ways of working, the better equipped we can be to deliver excellence in patient care. With this in mind, April’s training day was jointly held with the Poole RNLI team based at the Lifeboat College. The morning involved a series of lectures; Dr Tony Hanks (PHEM trainee) delivered a ..read more

Following my daughter Esme being seriously injured in a road traffic accident, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance (DSAA) provided life-saving care at the roadside, before airlifting her to hospital. As a family, we will be forever grateful for their expert care and the support they provided, undoubtedly ensuring Esme the best possible outcome. Along with my sister Sara, brother-in-law Rich, and daughter-in-law (one day!) Jess, we are doing a collective sponsored slim, aiming to lose a total of 5 stones between us by the end of July. The service that DSAA provide is 95% funded by charitable givi ..read more

Please join me in helping to raise funds for this life-saving service. Together, with your support, they can be there for patients today, tomorrow and in the future ..read more

Maintaining a charity funded, critical care service within NHS governance requires significant investment in professional time and activity. Our hard-working team continuously push and develop themselves to improve DSAA’s operational capability. Three members of our team were recognised nationally back in November at the Air Ambulance Awards of Excellence. Congratulations to Ian Mew, Wayne Busby an ..read more
