Interesting. Does this event also cover the rest of the story of the Kennedy Connection? Namely, how his Secretary of Defense was instrumental in making this generation of Lincoln happen? If not, it ought to be made part of the history seminar, so people can see there was more of a connection between Kennedy and these Lincolns than just his being killed in one. ---Tony Statistics: Posted by TonyC — Tue Jul 19, 2022 12:30 am ..read more

Well, they weren't standard on any car in that year, or even that decade. They were only beginning to be understood as serious safety devices later in the '70s, but it wasn't until into the '80s that they became increasingly available or even standard to cars of all classes. I wouldn't say they're as rare as, say, mirrors for the '60s models. A lot of later Mark IVs had them, so you should come across one without having to pay on the up of $2g's for one. And don't diss the controls; adjustment is important. I seriously doubt it would be that hard to thread the adjuster to its place on the das ..read more

Thanks boys. If I’ve digested this properly, the mirror was not available in ‘72 but was an option for ‘73 and later, or part of the optional towing package. So pretty damn rare. If I ever found one, I probably wouldn’t bother dealing with the controls, but install it, set it and forget it. Certainly would improve visibility on these beasts, surprised they are not standard. Events & Get Togethers • 5th Annual Tampa Kennedy Cruise

Heads up our 5th Annual Tampa Kennedy Cruise will be November 19th, 2022. We will up at 10 AM ET off Kennedy Blvd (more details to come as we get closer). One reason we do this car cruise (open to all makes/models but Lincolns lead the way) is to remember John F. Kennedy's trip to Tampa in Nov 1963. The trip is well documented in photos and even documentary films. I actually met Lynn Marvin Dingfelder, the producer of “JFK in Tampa: the 50th Anniversary" back on 11.23.2013 during the 50th anniversary of JFK's assassination. There was an event held in Downtown Tampa to remember Kennedy on the ..read more

My feedback is go with Pertronix. I spoke with them on the phone and they recommended using their spark plugs as well. I had an MSD coil but was sold on running all Pertronix equipment plus it wasn't too bad in cost all purchased via Amazon. Video part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8YJq7aUOEo&t=16s Video part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZNeuf1O85w I had planned to send my stock distributor up to be upgraded but my distributor was kind of a pain to install when it first went in the freshly rebuilt engine (I'm sure it would have worked out removing it but I didn't want to) so ..read more

Updating, Modernizing, and Customizing • Re: Replacing a 67 windshield washer bag to a bottle?

I can remember Baker's Auto selling new bags with the "FoMoCo" branding in the '90s; I got one for my grand's Man-Of-War, and I always thought then that was the original look. Then I learned that the Lincoln bags were separately branded ,although the same as bags on other Fords. I want to say that, a few years ago, I saw listings for reproduced plastic containers for the '68/9 cars, but since I already had a good bag ("Lincoln"-branded, of course) in place I didn't bother following that listing. For me, the bag is just fine; it's actually withstood quite a lot and still holds fluid, even thou ..read more

Pretty sure the OP has one by now, but a 'FoMoCo bag from Carpenter or the like, is about half the cost of a "Continental" bag, and just as authentic as a plastic bottle. The '68 bottle is likely the same one used in a truck, not much bigger than the bag. If looking for more capacity, there is little room under the hood, but what about a large, trunk mounted one? The pump should remain where it is to avoid lag, the hose could follow the vac. trunk hose in the door sill. Statistics: Posted by frasern — Mon Jul 18, 2022 5:15 pm ..read more

The red part is the part that actually grabs the cable. I call it the nipple. Find an 18 tooth version on amazon or ebay and you should be OK. Statistics: Posted by Dan Szwarc — Mon Jul 18, 2022 11:09 am ..read more
