See my intro thread just posted for more info on this car which I just got inspected and registered after 5 years in my FIL's garage. One remaining project is the AC which does not work. Here is the AC story so far: A/C is blowing uncooled air. I figured she needed a charge after 5 years sitting so I picked up a can of 134a and was ready to inject using an old AC Pro gauge. Greetings from Virginia. I just registerd and passed inspection on my FIL's 98 Mark VIII. 168,000 miles. He was a fighter pilot of F-89Cs in the early 1950s patrolling the north pole from Greenland. He is now 92 and not really up to driving, but I've given him some thrills chauffering him around. He loves this car. I removed the console in order to replace ash tray cup holder assembly and have reinstalled everything except the transmission gear shift knob. That is giving fits. The chrome button has launched so many times because I get the od switch in handle and the knob on the shaft but the chrome button is not engaged and out it comes. Or I get it installed and the chrome button doesn't return to original position. And pictures or suggestions would be greatly appreciated ..read more

I replaced the bulbs to no avail. I replaced the whole unit and still the lights in the same areas of the unit don't work after I installed it. All fuses seem to be good. Any ideas? Thanks ..read more
