Want scooters to get off of sidewalks? Here's what we've learned about “pavement” riding from one Superpedestrian City

If you’ve ridden a Superpedestrian e-scooter this year in Nottingham and rode on the sidewalk (or “pavement” as they’re called in the UK), you may have received a message reminding you to ride on the road. That’s because since November of 2022, we’ve been collecting data from sensors onboard the vehicles that know whether you’re riding on the road or on sidewalks. Then, we’re contacting sidewalk riders to let them know that they should be riding in the street. Pavement riding is not allowed in the UK e-scooter trials, and Superpedestrian and Nottingham City Council have been working together t ..read more

It was announced today that the Vienna City Council gave us the greenlight to stay in Vienna for the next three years. We’re both humbled and ecstatic about the trust that the city has extended to us to keep serving riders and non-riders alike.  As we look forward to the next three years, we wanted to highlight a couple initiatives that we’re excited about in Vienna.  Rider education ..read more

Photo credit: Chris Pietsch, The Register-Guard Have you ever seen someone dressed as a slug? And have you seen that person ride an e-scooter? Now that we’ve rolled out our service in Eugene, we’ve seen a Slug Queen ride a scooter, and it was as joyfully quirky as you’re imagining. Eugene, for those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of visiting, is a medium-sized city in Oregon, and home of the University of Oregon. In addition to the campus, Eugene has several bungalow-filled neighborhoods, a gorgeous riverfront trail, a deep running track record, and a delightfully weird attitude. Eugene ..read more

Sustainability starts with design We built our Superpedestrian e-scooters from the ground up, and in a time when shared scooters lasted barely a month, we were engineering ours to last six years. We still have the longest scooter lifespan in the industry, with our earliest scooters still going strong. By investing up front in good design and rugged materials, we reduce the materials needed for manufacturing, are able to ensure our vehicles are built with 100% recyclable materials, and reduce the need for transporting new vehicles, the biggest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions in the indu ..read more

We strongly believe that micromobility can make our streets safer, provide a more reliable transportation network in cities, and help address the climate crisis. But, as with many young industries, there is a fragmented landscape of regulations that creates uncertainty for operators ..read more
