Some kind of booster...

This player needs ...Anyway... I've been using a Blackstar Dept.10 Boost lately but it's just not cutting it for the Friedman IR-D. The Friedman (specially with the boost engaged, which resembles the HBE mode) is kinda scooped, and the Blackstar is pretty transparent so I need some mids in there. I already have a TS808 clone but I'd like to try something with top mounted jacks as the pedalboard is quite tight already. Apparently SD-1 style overdrives work great with... Read more ..read more

Highest gain amp of each manufacturer?

Out of your experience, which is the highest gain amp (stock, not modified) of each manufacturer? For example, I'm almost certain the JVM410h is Marshall's higher gain amp, but sometimes I feel with the right dial in the DSL 100hr can get more aggressive! Same with the Mesa mark & Rectifier series, I feel the Mark iv more aggressive than any Rectifier I've heard. I cannot tell for the other manufacturers though... Just a heads up - this little Behringer Hum Destroyer works and works well

I've had this unit for a while. I bought it because I was getting a horrible loud buzz when connecting the cables for amp channel switching from my HX Effects to my Triple Rec. It worked to completely eliminate the buzz. But, I've been playing through my Bugera TriRec much more these days as it's my favorite amp so the Hum Destroyer has just been sitting in my closet. The Bugera has midi so amp channel changing is even easier. Anyhow, I've been messing with capturing my amps with ToneX using... Read more ..read more

NBCC: New Bad Cat content: X-Treme Tone edition: the reckoning

You may or may not remember this Bad Cat Lynx Custom I got back in 2013ish. I lost my job soon after and had to let it go and have been sad about it ever since. Well I got a bug up my ass to take a risk on an X-Treme Tone preamp pedal and found a steal for $275. This this a 6+lb full voltage dual tube hand wired high gain beast. It has two channels, one of which is always active and a slightly lower gain/tonality. It can be blended with the higher gain red channel for some really... Read more ..read more

What speaker should I pair with a Celestion H30 Anniversary in a 212?

I've got an H30 in a box I should probably use at some point. I'm unsure what I should pair it with, such as another H30 Anniversary, a Vintage 30, a Creamback of some sort, a G12-65, or something else. I use two Synergy Syn-2 units with OS and IICP modules into a Fryette PS-2A Power Station. I play 70s and 80s hard rock and metal in E and Eb (or drop D variations ..read more

My limited bumbling about the speakers is in the description. Speaker list: Vintage 30 8 Ohm Governor 16 Ohm CV-75 16 Ohm Electric Lightning 16 Ohm Swamp Thang 16 Ohm G12T-75 16 Ohm Electro Harmonix 12VR 16 Ohm ValveKing 16 Ohm Seventy 80 16 Ohm Classic Lead 80 16 Ohm There was a time (it was 2021) when I had a bunch of speakers in boxes (the boxes they shipped in) in my closet of the studio (back bedroom). I got ambitious one day and ran them all through the same set-up. I didn't even... Read more ..read more

XLR to 1/4" TS more accurate than Radial Reamp box w/ my interface

I saw a bunch of talk that if you're using the XLR out of your interface into your guitar amp to Reamp (or in my case ToneX capture) that you need a reamp box to convert the low-z signal to a guitar amp friendly hi-z signal. I have been using a high quality XLR to 1/4" TS cable and it's been working fine but I got the Radial Reamp box, the blue one. To my surprise it made no difference, not in noise or sound and actually is 5db lower than the original guitar signal with the level on the... Read more ..read more

Does overdriven rhythm guitar tone get any better than this?

If it does, I don't think I could handle that. Just discovered this track from Jaded Heart and I have to share it somewhere! This subgenre may not be your thing (like a slightly more progressive Motley Crüe) but the tone is just undeniable imo. This band has very cool ways of transitioning from intro to verse, verse to chorus, etc. Can't vouch for their newer stuff tho. This album is from what seems to be their golden era (late 90s thru late 00's) What gear do you guys think it... Read more ..read more
