AH! The endless debate over which nut martial is better! ABS, PPS, Tusq or Bone? What I am about to say is what I was told by a Luthier. THe material isn't really an issue as long as it is a solid piece of have is being used, Density is the real issue, the cheapo plastic hollow bodies should only be about guitars! HM... I'm trying to remember what he called it , if my memory serves me correctly I think he zero fret or something like that. The tone that counts is the is between the nut and... Read more ..read more

Hi everybody! my first post here, from Italy! I'm a huge Setzer fan and the tone I look for is his orchestra's in 2005. Don't tell me to buy the Mystery Brain because I already purchase it and I can't wait to receive!!! (I placed the order three weeks ago and I'm in Italy so I think I'll have to wait..) by the way it'll be my straight rockabilly all in one pedal, but now I need an overdrive a lot more gainy, the fluid drive seems to be perfect but I can't wait and I need something now that I... I Cut a Nut...Music Nomad Files

So I assembled this Telecaster last year with a Chrissie Hynde body and a Fender roasted V neck that I love. The neck is fat (morbidly obese really) and it just feels great and it looks just right for me. It's fantastic but the nut was just stock slotted and never set-up because it was sold separate and not off of a guitar. I took a few guitars into a local tech last year and was very disappointed. They managed to damage both guitars I brought in and the set-ups were not great either. I've... Read more ..read more

"New FEA Opti-Fet Compressor Day". What can I say? I'm a compressor addict. I currently have five and have sold as many. If you're looking for a super high quality, well made compressor with a huge range of compression settings that sounds great, this is a good one. I've not had a lot of time with it, but I can already say: - Very quiet. Unless you crank the gain up past 2 o'clock, there is no noise. - The action is very smooth. - The build quality is perhaps the best I've ever seen... Read more ..read more

Power tube question????

6V6s and El34s are tied for 1st place. I have an amp with 1 ECC83 in the preamp and 1ECC83 & 2 EL34s in the power section, it's been my experience that EL34s breakup a fast, however in this amp the clean channel has so much headroom, with gain (the manufacturer calls it that) and volume maxed they don't breakup, could that be because of the ECC83 in the power section? I'm not a tech I just go with a sound I like ..read more

A Fun Country Fuzz

Hey everyone! I know, I know... Fuzz pedals don't work for most country music. However, I thought it would be fun to make a quick video showing off a fuzz pedal that my friend makes, and using it in different country settings. This is the Dual Transistor Fuzz (DTF) by Voltic Electronic Devices, and it is very impressive in terms of its range of gain. It can do everything from a clean treble boost (the first clip), to some pretty gnarly traditional fuzz. I would say my favorite setting on... Read more ..read more

I have an itch that needs scratching. So, Gretsch G6620TFM PE Nashville or Gretsch G6609TFM PE Broadkaster. I've started to save up money (these are WWK funds - without the wife's knowledge) I like both, but I'm leaning towards the G6620TFM. What is your experience with these models ..read more

Hey everyone! I am trying to do some deep-dive videos into some fun old amps and pedals that are a bit off-the-beaten-path. While I love old Fenders, Vox, and other amps that are still around today, I really think that having one or two small alternative circuits kicking around can really help with creativity in recording and writing. To that end, I have added another longer-form discussion / demo video that goes into the CMI-branded and Valco-built Model #97 Waikiki Deluxe! This amp is... Read more ..read more

Glarry Instruments......

Dear Members, I've spent the last couple of days, looking into...I stop short of using the term ''researching'', GLARRY INSTRUMENTS. I've watched both the ''paid'' to comment/review and ''not paid'' to comment/review Glarry instruments presentations on all the sites I could find on-line. Glarry advertises guitars/basses/brass/key-board instruments/accessories at ridiculously low prices, guitars/basses for under $100. Their claim is that they target beginners. Some of the reviews I...
