I found such a project. The printed circuit board can be custom-made, and the appropriate files are available for this. It remains to assemble all the components yourself and solder them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTRAOPGfVUU https://github.com/brianthornock/DisappearingAct/tree/main ..read more

Nothing beats a real tube driven Accutronics style reverb AB763 circuit. You also need to have the bug style opto-isolator vibrato circuit to get the reverb to sound right, it s a combo effect. The old stuff is more "organic" as they say, it's the original deal and has that signature sound we so desire. The surf sound came from these types of circuits as there was no solid state stuff back in the day when surf was born. Get any of the brownface/blackface series of Fender tube amps that have built in reverb and vibrato, you will be spoiled for life ..read more

I used to have an Ampeg Reverborocket, it was great until it died. I now have a 65 Fender Deluxe Reverb, and Twin Reverb, both re-issues. I installed new JJ tubes and re-biased them, they both are great. One thing you will find is that just reverb alone does not always give you the surf sound on many tunes, because, most also have tremolo/vibrato. There are vibrato and reverb pedals, but they don't hold a candle to a Fender style Reverb amp with Vibrato. The lesson here is the bigger the reverb tank, the better! The Hammond/Accutronics tank in a Twin Reverb amp will spit you out of the tube so ..read more

Lots of great guitars, but my 1957 Stratocaster fills the bill perfectly for me; it has a a tremolo, 3 pick-ups with 5 selections, and that signature "Fender"sound. Mine has a Wilkinson "Convertable" tremolo, which locks in place when you release the whammy bar, so it always stays in tune, plus you can do climbs and dives. It also stays in tune if you break a string. I have Graphtec nut ans Sperzel tuners which also help it stay in tune. My middle pick-up is reverse polarity, reverse wound so when used with the neck or bridge pickups, it acts like a humbucker. I shielded the inside of the cavi ..read more

Thank you guys for confirming my uneasy feeling about this listing. I can have Jim at Lil' Dawg amps make me another gorgeous sounding Showman head for less than that. My gut is telling me not to purchase this amp. I am in no hurry, I can wait as long as it takes to find the right one ..read more

$3500 for just the head? Even if it was immaculate, that is steep. Unless it has some history? And $300 to ship??? You can ship loaded cabs for less than that. If you’re super interested, reach out to them and ask for gut shots. But I think it’s at least $1k to $2k too expensive even if all original and in good shape, personally. For comparison I bought a 60 head for $1800 (and I feel I spent too much on it since it had a repro cab). And I spent $2500 on 62 head and cab (all original and in great shape). It was in 2020 so I know prices have raised, but shouldn’t have raised THAT much ..read more
