Hi all, Is it possible to assign a specific ip range to a single port on managed switch?. Here is my scenario, I have a Mikrotik 4G Router with 4 IP Ranges currently setup with ranges 2 & 3 on VLAN's feeding my Netgear switch. VLAN's 2 & 3 are set up to only output on ports 23 & 24 and work just fine feeding into Ubiquiti AP's with multiple SSID's. I would like to IP Range 4 to provide connectivity on port 22 only, but will be connecting to non VLAN aware devices so don't see how a VLAN from the router would work. Is there some other way to achieve this? Summary:- IP Range 1 - 192 ..read more

I originally managed to login to my switch using 192.168.0.239 ... after setting a static IP of 192.168.0.210 ... from port 1. I then logged in bingo .... and changed ip to 192.168.1.5 - then it was recognized on my existing network.....happy days. Ok all was well...I changed a setting on the switch....and it went off....can't remember the error message but I am sure it contained something dchp..... Anyway since then it's a brick......I have even done a full factory reset..and started from scratch but no. I followed the same protocal as before with the switch directly connected to my laptop wi ..read more

Save your invoice or no warranty

Just as an FYI - make sure to save your invoice for your "lifetime" warranty switches.  Because apparently the lifetime warranty is not honored without that, even if the switch has been registered with Netgear for years. On a side note, does anyone know offhand what fans (and a source for such) that are in a GS748Tv4 ..read more

Netgear Orbi is blocking a feature of ONE banking website.

Maddingly, I’ve determined that the cause of the accountant to be prevented from accessing one banking website out of many, many banking and financial websites is the Netgear orbi. It blocks some kind of authorization process and the accountant sees “Login unsuccessful, contact (toll free number)”. And the bank was just bought and the new customer support department has no clue what to do about it. I’ve tried: Putting the computer in the DMZ. Changing the dns on the pc and the orbit router to google Creating an entry for https on the “block service” page and making sure it’s set to not block a ..read more

Orbi RBR850 - RDP setup

hello, I recently installed an Orbi RBR 850 router.  It is working great, getting great speeds and wifi is much better than before.  I have however lost the ability to RDP into other computers on my internal network.  I also cannot ping the computers or see any other device except the router in the ARP table. This worked just fine with my previous router. Things I have tried so far, but have not worked: - disabling firewall - set port forwarding on the Orbi -made sure all ICMP and RDP items were set correctly as I mentioned, it was working prior - have tried allowing internet pi ..read more

Hi Looking for some help with a Netgear M4300 and port security.  I have a L2 network with 8 machines that need to communicate (7 manufacturing computers, 1 management computer) and want to ensure that only these computers can talk to each other. If any other host/network card is connected, connection is dropped. Was hoping I could do this with MAC ACLs - is this doable?  Rather not have to make this environment more complicated. Thanks ..read more

Have followed different instruction to the T and when the step comes up for the mywifiext.net or IP address, it will not log in. Any suggestions besides throughing it across the room? LOL ..read more

Why IP phone can connect to a trunk port?

Work as a graduate IT admin, I have only used Cisco switches previously. There are trunk ports and access ports in Cisco. Recently my boss asked me to config a Netgear prostate switch for an new office, connect a couple of IP phones, computers and a printer, he told me that all ports set to trunk , allow Vlan1 and vlan 5(ports 18-24). 802.1q trunk. And I did as requested, and to test the switch, at the beginning, I thought some ports must be configured to access ports for endpoint devices. E.g. Computers, IP phone, because the switch needs to untag the traffic before send it to endpoint device ..read more
