My pool build is about finished (concrete/waterproofing/tiling completed over two months ago), pump room, jets/returns, lighting finished this week, and next step will be adding water. I have a Pentair Inteliichlor IC40 chlorine generator and a 1.5hp variable speed pump. Pool is approximately 70,000l. I have never owned a "salt-water" chlorine pool. I know I will need to play with pump speed and chlorinator to monitor things like ph and salt levels to find the right balance of electrical cost and pool chemistry. Goal is 2-3 turnovers a day at low speed.

I am on Samui...so already prices at most shops are at a premium, and some over-the-top markups. Ordering on-line saves costs, somewhat offset by shipping costs, and the inability to directly reach out to the seller for any problems. Pool around 80m3. As I am just finishing my housebuild, budget is also an issue. My preferred shop primarily deals with Emaux but can supply any brand. With that as background, major components I will be purchasing are:
-Main pool pump (1.5hp), but likely a variable speed pump, for continuous running and multiple turnovers day. Likely will go with Emaux 150 ..read more

My saltwater pool water is clear and there does not seem to be any problem with it. However, the drop test shows high ph and total chlorine. The digital test shows high ph and 0 free chlorine. When I add muratic acid the ph drops for a few hours, then returns. I have a 4m overflow, so I am wondering if that might be the cause? The internet says to shock it to free up some chlorine. Does that make sense to anyone?

Has anyone considered building a natural pool or actually done so?
I like the idea of not having any chemicals to deal with and the lower costs but do these pools carry their own set of problems in the Thai climate?
I have been reading about the N. Fowleri bug which is quite alarming but wondered if there were other factors to consider.
Any input or further info welcome ..read more

Hi. Wonder if somebody has some advice for me.
The hoover/vacuum hole has good suction. When I attach the hose, the end of hose has good suction as well. Then, when hoovering the floor of the pool, after a minute or so, the suction decreases a lot. The water entering the skimmer basket has very little flow.
All worked fine, for several years, till about 2 weeks ago. I have an overflow pool.
The suction pipe goes to the pump and afterwards to the filter and then to pool outlets/nozzles. As you can seem the basket of the pump has almost no water going in and lots of air.&nbs ..read more

I have a fiber inground pool which has been in there for 10 - 12 years, I know these things have a lifespan and as I am refurbishing a house I am looking at options.
Its still in solid condition but there is the start of some hairline cracking on the sun exposed top surface and I can see cosmetically it may be something in the coming years. Structurally it seems solid and nothing looks to be weak or in need of attention. Its actually a functionally good pool (I used to be fairly snobby about fiber pools but this has been easy to keep and its 'just' big enough) aside from being skimmer ..read more
