New to forum. 3DConnect/3DEXPERIENCE user for 18 months. Following mandatory March update connection to 3DEXPERIENCE lost on one computer but update succeeded on second machine and local and cloud files are present and useable. On problem machine 3DCONNECT opens Solidworks and all local parts and assembly files are present but 3DEXPERIENCE does not load cloud files and does not indicate it is trying to connect (it did connect before update). Thought I'd share this so that others don't go down the same path. Like many, I was blindsided by the move from the Student version of Solidworks to the Maker version, and my Student license expired while I was in the middle of a project (stamping die for my partner's engagement ring). Ok, fine. I'll purchase the Maker version. I then found that it lacked the 2.5 axis machining feature and is unable to open files created in anything other than Maker Edition (CAM had been added a while back, admittedly). So I honestly think this is quicker than lofting. I never used a 3D draw in CAD so this might be functionally the same as that. This is about an 8 hour turn around which is quicker than my usual method. I started with a properly scaled outline I did in FreeCAD then took the outline over laid the image on it. Then began dimensionally constraining vertexes. Some clean up removing extra bits from the outline and a quick repair in 3D builder and it was able to be imported into your preferred CFD. The following is my input to SW about my update experience. When I tapped the SW icon in the system tray to open SW 3DEXPERIENCE, I was greeted by a pop indicating that I had Hotfix 1 and needed to update to 2.6. For most apps that would have been a simple task that perhaps would require a restart. I tried multiple times that always ended with error code 1603. I originally installed 3DExperienceLauncher in March, now when I try to launch it I get a window that says to download the .msi file and run it then click the Continue button. I do all of that and the window launches again to do it all over again. I even tried uninstalling 3DExperienceLauncher and then reinstalling, no joy. I'm extreamly frustrated at this point, the troubleshooting tips that are displayed in the window don't work. I need some help ..read more
