we face a similar issue with our vault. image quality is a per document property, so you have to save it with the file. you could have it temporary set without saving if the file is fully loaded (i.e. has its own window open inside solidworks), but you can do it for a limited amount of data (less than 50 files iirc ) as solidwotks will go out of memory.
this is one of the reasons to set a conpany standard (e.g. same image quality when adding a new catalog part to the vault)

Yes you need to have write access to the files as you will be changing and then saving the files.

Long time since my last posts!
Can I assign custom properties to individual weldment profiles?
For instance, we have some extrusion profiles and I plan to create some custom wedment profiles for them. I'd like to indicate maximum lengths for the different extrusions, but don't know if I can add that info to the weldment files.

Thanx

Foo shows up rather frequently in the programming world, not a surprise if surfaced in a message dialog.

Love that we can open a drawing from the BOM on the sheet now...
Unfortunately, I can't right click and open the drawing of a part in the drawing view. It seems to be broken.
Odd, it seems to work for me...?

Better to leave off the threads in the main configuration.
Thanks for ringing in on this and completely agree with you about that. But if the target audience/user base don't see the threads/features when the part is opened or inserted, confusion sets in. Yes, a training/instructing/experience issue, but in some long standing groups the approach is deemed incorrect.
Not many stop to sharpen their axe.

I have done this in the past, but there is a manual update if filenames change.
I assign a property called "Material" in my part that is set to the SolidWorks material. I then may put a property in my assembly called "Material". It gets set to "SW-Material@<partname>.SLDPRT". This will bring the text material name to the assembly. I can then show that material on a drawing using the property name. Would that get you what you need?
Or can you force the table to use the part rather than the assembly for that piece of information?

Here it is an example where it works. I'm able to copy-paste the Material Property from Part to Assembly.
For the moment I can't replicate the situation when it doesn't work!!
