Raising Diligent Hearts: Instilling the Work Ethic in Kids A Mom’s Journey in Teaching Integrity to Her Children Today’s blog post is about teaching kids patience. As a busy mom, it’s important to learn patience. There is always something to do or somewhere to go. Everything thing we say and everything we do is being picked up by our children, just like the old tape recorders. “I am showing my age here”.  Our children are watching us to see how we live our lives and so we have to be careful what we say and do. I was reading through scriptures in Proverbs and some verses jumped out at me in chapter 20.   See my blog post for last week on teaching kids about hard work.  Raising Diligent Hearts: Instilling the Work Ethic in Kids BRIEF STORY I try to do morning devotions with my kids on most days and then evening devotions with my hu ..read more

Each morning when my kids get up, they are supposed to do their morning routine, you know brush their teeth, get dressed, devotions, etc. I even put a morning and evening sign on their bathroom wall as a reminder of what they need to do each day.    In addition, they have a clipboard filled with daily and weekly chores to complete. I believe that everyone’s contribution is essential to maintaining a happy and harmonious home.  Teaching the Value of Hard Work to Our Children” But beyond just keeping our home running smoothly, instilling a strong work ethic in our kids is ..read more

Can you believe that it’s Fall Already?  Time goes by so fast anymore.  Yet, Fall is a beautiful time of year. I enjoy the crisp cool mornings it brings.  Not too hot and not freezing cold. Like the story of Goldy Locks and the 3 bears with her chair and bed. I’m sure you mamas know the story.  Anyways,  The weather this time of year is just wonderful.  Of course, with Fall, brings Halloween. You know that time of year as well. I have two birthday kids in February, so I have to be creative with parties.  Not only for planning them but also for ways not to break the bank. My daughter just turned 14 and she just loves the show Little House on the Prarie.  So, in my last post, I wrote about how we did a Little House-themed party for her.  She just loved it. We were able to save money by shopping around our house for decorations and baking the cake at home.  Throw the Perfect Little House on the Prarie Birthday Party for Your Teen Our 12-year-old son is at that age where he just loves to play with ..read more
