Valentine’s Day has flown by and St. Patrick’s Day is already upon us.  In today’s post, I wanted to not only talk about St. Patrick and who he was but also give the kids an opportunity to bring the story alive with my St. Patrick’s Day Wheel. Kids love crafts and I know your little ones will enjoy assembling, coloring, and spinning the wheel for fun to see images of St. Patrick’s Day.  As homeschool moms, we have a golden opportunity to dive into the deeper meaning of St. Patrick’s Day with our kiddos. Everything thing we say and everything we do is being picked up by our children, just like the old tape recorders. “I am showing my age here”.  Our children are watching us to see how we live our lives and so we have to be careful what we say and do. I was reading through scriptures in Proverbs and some verses jumped out at me in chapter 20.   See my blog post for last week on teaching kids about hard work.  Raising Diligent Hearts: Instilling the Work Ethic in Kids BRIEF STORY I try to do morning devotions with my kids on most days and then evening devotions with my hu ..read more

Each morning when my kids get up, they are supposed to do their morning routine, you know brush their teeth, get dressed, devotions, etc. I even put a morning and evening sign on their bathroom wall as a reminder of what they need to do each day.    In addition, they have a clipboard filled with daily and weekly chores to complete. I believe that everyone’s contribution is essential to maintaining a happy and harmonious home.  Teaching the Value of Hard Work to Our Children” But beyond just keeping our home running smoothly, instilling a strong work ethic in our kids is ..read more

Can you believe that it’s Fall Already?  Time goes by so fast anymore.  Yet, Fall is a beautiful time of year. I enjoy the crisp cool mornings it brings.  Not too hot and not freezing cold. I have two birthday kids in February, so I have to be creative with parties.  Not only for planning them but also for ways not to break the bank. My daughter just turned 14 and she just loves the show Little House on the Prarie.  So, in my last post, I wrote about how we did a Little House-themed party for her.  She just loved it. We were able to save money by shopping around our house for decorations and baking the cake at home.  Throw the Perfect Little House on the Prarie Birthday Party for Your Teen Our 12-year-old son is at that age where he just loves to play with ..read more
