I'm really tempted to go for a '59 Melody Maker. On paper they have all the goods: Les Paul shape, nice fat neck, BRW, slab Honduras mahogany body with the thickness of an SG, same nitro & glue, same Centralabs & Bumblebee as on the high-end models. As a bonus, a P90 can be put in place of the single coil without modification if it happens to turn out I can't live with the stock pickup.
So would a P90 equipped '59 MM sound similar to a SC Junior? In theory they should.
These '59 MMs seem...

Hi guys, I posted this on the SG forum as well, but wanted your opinion as well, so please bear with me!
I live in Japan, and currently eyeing an 2005 customshop SG.
The seller claims it uses brazilian rw on the fretboard, and it says BRZ on the checksheet.
Has anyone seen BRZ on a 2005 SG? I've heard it being used on some 2003 Les Pauls, but I've never heard of a customshop SG with a BRZ fretboard.
My instincts are telling me to take this information with a grain of salt, but was...

Hey all,
A few years back, I put Grover Locking Tuners on my LP Standard 50's LP.
I want to put the original Gibson Deluxe Tuners, that came with the guitar.
My question is;
Are the stock tuner washers, the raised washers or flat washers?
I can't remember if the raised washers came with the the Grover Locking Tuners, or were on the guitar when I purchased it new.
Thanks in advance.

Hi all, I'm trying to restore my '65 Trini that's missing its tailpiece badge. I have a friend who can clone me one, but i need clear, preferably hi-res dead-on shots to do so- google is not proving helpful in this instance.
Could anyone help??
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated :dude ..read more

I ordered a nice over under pickguard set for my Dove. ……Man……I have never had so much trouble getting my items. Original order finally arrived, and I was very happy with the celluloid and cut, but the guards werent matching (one had way more gold fleck.) I called, left messages, emailed…FINALLY after choosing every option in the phone tree, Davey answered. Je seemed quite slow, and almost….confused.
He said he would sort, and its now going on almost a month. Shame, because the guards were...

I lucked into this nice playing guitar. It feels old like my 68' melody maker, but it doesn't exactly look like anything online that I've seen. I like playing it regardless, but I should find out if it needs to be under glass or if it's ok lying around the living room. Pickguard not original, original holes were filled decently. Thanks in advance

Just bought (about two months ago) a new Junior and it has quickly become my new number one. One downside is that 3 of the tuning keys have buttons with a little play in them. They will spin free, in both directions for about 1/8th turn before they catch. Anyone else experience the same thing. I may message Gibson and as for a new set. If this is usual, does anyone have suggestions for replacement (upgrade) tuners that drop in without resizing hole? I’m a recent LP convert as I have mainly...
