My water heater is very inconsistent (sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t and when it works is for a few minutes) and I was wondering if thats how it works or is it broken? I don’t know anything about water heaters.

Anyone have a Navien tankless installed? I’ve got a 50 gal. Gas tank water heater I am looking to replace with a Navien tankless 199,000 BTU in a house with 2 full bath, (2) 1/2 baths, soaking tub, laundry, dishwasher. I’ve had 3 plumbers come out and quote me on it. 1 states I need 2 tankless units in series, other states water pressure isn’t high enough with 2 open valves on at highest points in house. Other day it will be good. Now I’ve got another guy coming over tomorrow that also thinks this would be fine. I don’t want to put it in if my setup would stress out the unit for premature fai ..read more

Water Heater makes squealing/whining/high pitched noise after the burner has been going for several seconds. Doesn't seem to be pressure related.

This water heater is just a little over a year old. It is gas powered. I have an expansion tank on the cold line right in front of it with 50 PSI air pressure in it. The emergency pressure valve works fine. When the burner kicks on, this high pitch noise slowly builds until its quite loud and can be heard through the whole house. When the water heater is making this noise, removing potential pressure from the line by opening faucets or dumping water from the drain valve (like shown in this video) does nothing to the noise. But turning off the burner makes it stop immediately. Any ideas on how ..read more

Blue light “heartbeat flashing” after turning back after after a flush. Manual says heartbeat flash is ok. Is this because it’s heating up still? All others I Google have a pilot tab. Yes gas is on and I’m still waiting for hot water. Only finished 20 minutes ago.

When was my water heater manufactured?

https://imgur.com/a/1sPHEV7 The date part of the info sticker must've washed off or something, because the building was built in 2004/05, so it definitely couldn't have been installed in '02. A few places online said you can tell from the serial number, but every company uses a different formula and I couldn't find one for OSO. Not sure if this matters but I'm in the UK. submitted by /u/DaisyBryar [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
