Got a frustrating if not slightly interesting problem: on XP SP3 with .NET 4.0 Full, Panda installed and ran fine for a bit. I then opened the game "Sid Meier's Civilization IV", and it ran some kind of initialization procedure involving python and xml things. After closing it, I found that Panda no longer works - a PSUAConsole.exe error window opens with no text. Restarting didn't work, and my System Restore is messed up atm, so I'm stumped. Does someone know anything about this ..read more

I was recently given an old machine that I hope to use to run some very old software. The machine was running Windows XP which was the original OS when the machine was new. For privacy reasons, the original owner wanted to remove the hard drive before giving me the machine. That was fine with me since I have several drives that I can use with the machine, and I still have a Windows XP - SP2 install disk. I have successfully reinstalled Windows from on the machine and it is running fine... Activation following xp reinstall ..read more

To start off, I have been a Help Desk Professional for over 20 years and a software tester for 15 years after that. I know what I'm doing (for the most part) and usually can find the answer myself due to my extensive Google-Fu. That being said, I'm trying to repair a Windows XP (that was on a drive and now is a VM) that crashed a long time ago. I have only kept it around as I have certain items of software that I no longer have the installations for but I would still like to be able to run... Manually Correcting a Registry Hive ..read more

Hello everyone, my first post. I have an old PC, it's a Dell 8400 running XP and I've not used it in a few years, it's been sitting on my desk gathering dust. I want to make sure I can copy over any files, which will mostly be photo's, to an external hard drive before I dispose of the PC. The problem is I can't seem to connect it to a monitor, I have a new Dell monitor, which only has HDMI ports, the PC only has VGA. I purchased a VGA to HDMI adapter but my monitor clearly doesn't like... Old PC and need to transfer data to external drive ..read more

I just installed Windows XP SP2 on a purpose-built, air-gapped computer which I need to run some legacy video hardware. The computer is built around an ASRock 4CoreDual-SATA2 motherboard, and has two identical 1 TB HDDs hooked to the two motherboard SATA ports (as well as a PCI SATA expansion card for the video capture HDDs). After a few hiccups I got the OS installed properly, but I note that the system drive is on drive E:\ and drive C:\ is empty (I'm reserving it for a possible Linux... Changing System Drive Letter?
