I had to put my baby down today

My baby Amy Bruce was a chihuahua and had the biggest heart the world could ever ask for. sadly it was too big for her own sake and she was diagnosed with CFH. the vet told us it was about 30% larger than it should be and that her lungs were slowly filling up with fluid due to a heart murmur. she seemed so well just a few weeks ago, but the onslaught of symptoms just became progressively worse. disorientation, reluctance to and refusal to eat, did not want to move from her bed unless she had to pee or drink. her breaths became shorter and began coughing more frequently in the past few days. i ..read more

Memorializing Our Pup

Hello all. My boyfriend and I lost our sweet pup, Molly, last week to cancer. We were touched that the crematorium staff sent us a plaster imprint of her paw. We want it on display but we are scared of it getting broken. Does anyone have any advice on how to ensure we keep her paw print? Has anyone done this with metal, resin, silicone? submitted by /u/goingforascroll [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Came home to find my precious baby passed on.

I got home a few hours ago. My cat usually greets me at the door so when he wasn’t there I knew something was wrong. My stepmom had been there and I thought she may have let him outside accidentally. I looked around the room and then I saw him on the floor by the cat tree. It must’ve been a cardiac arrest or a stroke. He was perfect just gone. My stepmom helped me bury him under a tree nearby. I’m all alone now. At least my Dad is across the bridge to take care of him. My baby was feral and hated everyone but me and Dad. I miss them both so much. submitted by /u/GigglyHyena [visit reddit] [c ..read more

Grief still raw after over a year

Tw grief, pet death and loooong ramble ahead Some backstory: back in the summer of 2021 I lost my beloved childhood soulmate cat. His name was Shadow and he was 17 years old. I thought his death would be the hardest thing I’d ever go through, and don’t get me wrong it was awful. I had everything planned so I could have a vet come to the house to euthanise him, but the week he died (he had kidney failure) he worsened SO quickly that we struggled to find a vet who would do a house call (which I believed, and still do believe, was the right thing for Shadow). We did eventually find a vet, and th ..read more

My soulmate's gone

I don't know if it's weird to call a cat your soulmate, but I loved this cat so deeply that it's the only word that makes sense. She had the most loving, gentle, affectionate soul. Every single day with her was special. I had to let her go on Friday after her kidneys started failing. She was with me on my chest when the vet gave the injection, so that I could be the last thing she saw, heard, and felt, but I can't believe she's gone. She never trusted anyone else, but I could literally stick an IV needle in her and she'd let me. All she wanted was to sit on my lap and love and be loved. She g ..read more

It’s Day 2 of my cats passing and I’m numb

On Saturday, 4/20, at 2:21pm, I had to say goodbye to my precious sweet girl and let her cross the rainbow bridge. My 8 year old calico cat was diagnosed with non regenerative anemia on Thursday with only 10% of rbc left in her already small body and it took her from us so fast and so sudden. I feel like I didn’t have the time to process what was happening and that these past few days I blacked out during it all because it just didn’t feel real. By the time it was Saturday, I knew that she was deteriorating in front of my eyes. Her body so frail, weak, pale and skinny. I asked my vet to be br ..read more

Lost my grandma's cat today.

Today my grandma's cat got run over. She was the sweetest most good natured cat ever. I love my own cat (Basil) so much but I have to admit that even he isn't as purely kind, loving, gentil as Livy was. She would do this thing where when you stroked her she would become so exited and overjoyed she kind of flop over backwards onto you. Then she would drool all over you. An example of her perfect patience and kindness is that a year or so back this old cat my grandparents nicknamed Monty "came in from the cold" and sort of adopted them. We think he was a stray. He gradually became more and more ..read more
