Having been recently diagnosed with border line Type 2, my GP in his infinite wisdom has sent me some shake samples to taste and select . On looking at these samples there is 25g of sugar in each pack of a 52g shake. Now I am overweight and obese and have worked all my life in an manual capacity 99% of the time, I eat healthy and been on beta blockers since 2004 for A/F. I digress, could some one advise me on this diet plan if you have taken part in it, would love to hear the Pros and Cons...

Id like to try to lose 50 pounds by March. So basically in 6 months.
Starting weight of 252. So maybe weigh 200 in March?
I really wanna get off my meds..
But likely not off the BP ones.
As I was very active and a good weight as a teen when I had to start BP meds. But maybe the insulin.
If I can and remember I will come back and post results along the way ..read more

I sometimes (often, but less often now) find that after eating a meal, and not feeling hungry, that I'll eat something. Nothing carb-heavy, just some nuts and dark chocolate, for example. Maybe it's just a remnant from years of doing this. I know I'm not hungry, but sometimes I just feel like I have to "have something".
Have people experienced this, and, if so, how did you overcome it ..read more

I was diagnosed 9 weeks ago as diabetic (probably type 2, still don't have the GAD test back yet). In the 3 weeks leading up to diagnosis I lost 15 pounds while massively overeating. I was started on Insulin in the hospital and immediately gained 3 pounds. I understand glycogen refilling and all that so this was expected.
As soon as I got home from hospital I started a strict diet (while being prescribed insulin). 1200-1500 calories per day while burning typically burning 4000. After the...

I attended Public Health Collaboration 2024 a week ago and there was a presentation launching educational / support programme for those struggling with food addiction called Liberate. This is now available to public at 195GBP for eight weekly training sessions each lasting 1.5h as well as ongoing support for a year after completing the course. I don't have any affiliation to the organisers (PHC UK), but I have signed up for the course and support community myself. You can check out the...

Hello,
I've lost 4 stone over the past 11 months, but this last month I've dropped maybe a pound. Now, I'll be honest, I drink about half to three quarters of a bottle of red wine most evenings. I do it because I'm used to it. I've been mainly low carb most of that time.
I'm feeling a bit deflated (I wish) because I thought I'd be further along my weight loss journey (I hate that word) by now. Summer is on its way, and I'm still fat.
My question is, I've been drinking the same or similar...

A long one - but there are chapter links to the bits you may be interested in. Layne is a bit of a "controversial" person in the diet/nutrition/fitness world. Mainly because he refutes much of the mantra which is spouted on the intrawebs by people trying to sell you stuff. He does this by referring to actual science, and peer review studies and meta-analysis of multiple studies. His background is in biochemistry as an undergraduate, and PhD in nutrition in his...

Hello all
I am confused. I have been put on trulicity and yes, I have lost a lot of weight. I am on the smallest dose and it has been amazing. The problem is, I don't know how it is working.
As I understand it, the drug is supposed to stop me from being hungry so I eat less. It doesn't. I have swopped to a lower calorie intake because after menopause, keto no longer worked for me (and a whole host of other things I won't go into here - suffice to say, I stopped keto, went back on it and...
