Starting to explore options for winding down small Corp with significant cash in investment account. Looking for ideas how to maximize funds withdrawal tax efficiently and simplest ways for estate to inherit upon death. Ideally would prefer to drain and dissolve Corp but this would result in a big tax hit personally. Thoughts: Take my lumps and increase payouts so funds are depleted over 10 years. Make beneficiaries shareholders to allow for tax efficient payouts until funds are depleted. Anyone have experience or suggestions? Statistics: Posted by rustyone — Mar 12th, 2025 9:39 pm ..read more

Hello RFD Community, With the recent CRA regulations requiring electronic filing of T2 returns, I'm seeking advice on the most cost-effective methods to file a T2 for a corporation that has had no activity throughout the fiscal year. Given the simplicity of the return, are there any free or low-cost CRA-certified software options suitable for this purpose? I came across a discussion mentioning that Taxtron offers a T2 software package at $99 for one corporation. (source) However, considering the inactivity of my corporation, I'm wondering if there are more affordable or even free alternativ ..read more

Hello, I registered a federal corporation in Canada in 2022, but I haven't conducted any business operations (no expenses or earnings). Now, I want to dissolve the corporation and need a step-by-step guide on how to do this. Here’s what I know so far: Annual Returns: I’ve filed the annual returns and paid the $12 fee for each year via the iSED website (ised-isde.canada.ca). T2 Filing: I need to file a short T2 for each year (Nil Return). For the 2025 tax year, It should marked as "Final". Mailing Forms: I understand I need to print and mail the forms to the CRA office. Are there any specifi ..read more

Building an online Discourse community and relatively new to ad revenues The problem I see with reddit and discord is there doesn't seem to be ways to plant ads and we are not control of the landing pages. For discourse, there is a landing page but I don't see how advertising can be worked into that or within the forum/platform itself. Will go through a few blogs/discussions on discourse and ad monetization but definitely appreciate any tips/links/examples. https://mailchimp.com/resources/how-to- ... a-website/ 1. Google AdSense 2. I have some amount (6 figures) lying in my business's current account doing nothing. I have an incorporated company ( Small business corporation) I looked on rfd and the following thread popped up. Some posters in this thread are saying that investing form business account makes it more complex from accounting perspective. Is it true? https://forums.redflagdeals.com/investm ... s-2638478/. I was thinking parking some of the money in GIC. RBC also offer a savings account that pays some interest. I dont want to do complex investment from business. Any input is appreciated. Should my accountant be charging me just GST and not HST

I live in Manitoba. Whenever I buy ( for my personal use) any item from Ontario or BC company, I notice that they only charge me GST (5%) so I thought same principle should apply to my accountant who is Ontario based and for the services he provides to my corporation, he should be charging only GST because he is providing those services to another province ( in this case Manitoba business). He is indeed charging me HST ( 13%) citing that the services are being conducted from Ontario hence HST. Anyone knows how this thing works? We are looking to start a website to be able accept payments for services performed in North America. The target customers will be physically located in China, so there is the great fire wall concern. I understand Internet Content Provider license may be required in order for the website to be accessible to customers physically in China or searchable by Baidu. I have also heard its just the server needs to be located in China. Can anyone share experience or knowledge on this subject? We would also like to collect payment from AliPay / WeChat through Stripe. I understand the fees can be very ..read more
