I've had an account with them for years but never had or needed a checkbook. Just a debit card. They're now phasing out checks. The same may eventually happen in the U.S., Canada, UK, and so on.   Link:  https://www.news.com.au/finance/business/banking/anz-will-no-longer-issue-cheque-books-to-old-and-new-accounts-from-june-citing-declining-use/news-story/c56afb7d1d22b23f968ef24c0318802c   ..read more

Wells Fargo Reflect Card

I paid off all my cards except one. It has a 17% rate and $20,000 balance. I've got a 756 credit score and strong income. Unfortunately, the credit utilization is 51%.  I want to transfer my remaining balance (or as much as eligible for) to a 0% balance transfer credit card, preferably WF Reflect since it has the longest intro period. Will the high credit utilization cause me to be denied? I don't want to risk a hard inquiry for a rejection ..read more

Back in 2019, I had a family event that caused me to experience some significant emotional and mental anguish. After battling it alone for several months, I thought that I needed to seek professional help. This only made matters worse as the physician prescribed anxiety medication that made me completely numb to almost everything. For roughly a year I could have cared less if the sun was shining most days. During this time, I completely neglected to check my email and, in all seriousness, didn't even care what I might have been missing. One of which was the only bill that I received electroni ..read more

I am at 5/24 already due to being an AU on several of my wife’s cards.  If she removes me and I wait a while can I reliably get a Sapphire Preferred? And if I am turned down now will that prevent me from getting a SUB when I apply again later?   Thanks ..read more

A suggestion was recently made.. So, I enrolled myself in a "six month" "back to work" program somewhere . It has been making me very anxious that, at least for the first 3 months.. Things are done around the place, and they don't let you actually go out and work and get a job until those last 2 or 3, I think 2 . Seems a little bit counterintuitive but I think I understand... they want to instill "routine."   This is a voluntary place and I can "walk out" at any time, but if I did that then why did I come in the first place. Working on me a little bit. (A lot..)   So, someo ..read more

Help w/ fraudulent charge?

Hi All --   I searched, but didn't find much.   I have an 8 year old cap1 card that I run $15-$25k/year through, just because the 1.5% cash back is simple.   I recently traveled and ate at a food truck.  I'm not sure how (I assume the food truck), but shortly after paying for my sandwich, an auto repair shop 10 miles away charged a little over $1k to it.  This wasn't me.     I went through cap1's fraud process and, because the card has a chip in it, they won't refund the charges.  This despite the fact that, given their timelines, it's physically im ..read more

I am in the process of replacing 6 windows in the house I bought for my son and daughter in law. The house is 120 years old and the windows in question are all in very poor shape. I brought in a local window contractor, got measured and got a price. I agreed to the price then they offered me 0% for 24 months financing. OK, I can easily afford that, so I signed up for it, paying 40% down. In rounded numbers, the cash price was $9,500 and the down payment was $4,000 leaving a financed balance of $5,500.   Word of Warning #1: Don't ever sign anything on a tablet the sales person gives you. Question about FICO score and paying off student/installment loans

I went to check this site earlier but it was down for a while, glad it is back up!   I have a student loan which is in the process of being paid off in full.  I have a subscription with Experian, and was playing around with the score simulator on their site; they use FICO 8.    After the loan shows as paid in full at the end of this month the simulator "predicted" a 10 point increase.  Further playing around with numbers the simulator predicted that if a balance was left on the loan, even $1, the predicted score would increase by 30 points!-WTH?  Of course I am gl ..read more

Apparently, the age of digital debt collection is upon us. I recently received a call from my father about an email sent to him by Resurgent Capital, collecting an out of SOL credit card debt they bought from another debt buyer who I previously beat in court. The problem is, they never should have emailed him or had his email address, for any reason. Where they got that, I do not know. But what I do know is they violated the FDCPA by sending this confidential information to him. I also just received a physical letter from them this week and I am debating about how to handle it. The owner of th ..read more
