Here's my 'day in the life' diary about life in a cohousing eco community with a toddler, and why communal living is great for children: http://www.chapeltowncohousing.org.uk/cohousing-taster/ Some background: Our family ran away from the London lockdown to squat at my in law's in the North. Suddenly it had become feasible for Daddy Vegan to live outside London and still work. We paused for a while, and thought that it would be nice to have some people to talk to. We got used to the new idea of having a garden and safe streets. I remembered my previous single hippy life visiting ecovillage com ..read more

In this kids vegan gift guide you can find: vegan play food, toys with animals in their natural habitats, plant based art materials, vegan children's books, and stocking- filler toiletries, shoes and coats, which you might have planned to buy anyway. We buy vegan versions of books and toys to counteract the messages we encounter in the predominantly not-yet vegan world. It helps to demonstrate gentle, outwardly focussed and responsible values in our home, even if we don't always live up to them. General gifts can often be found in second hand shops, or in a library; but specifically vegan thin ..read more

How parents can save plastic

When I shopped for my new baby, all the products available on the local high street were packaged in plastic. I decided to make an online one-stop-shop for other parents who want to be eco friendly and reduce their plastic use; without spending precious time researching how. Hence, Vegan Family Guide lists organic, Fairtrade and cruelty free baby and kid’s products. Plastic free family bathroom products I was surprised to find the ,nappy cream and nipple balm I bought in preparation while pregnant contained ‘cera alba’ which means bee’s wax, or ‘lanolin’ which means sheep’s wool. My aim is to ..read more

Why visit Tonbridge? Family outing town near London

Just half an hour by train from central London, Tonbridge is in many ways more convenient to visit than places which are actually in London. It has seen the biggest spike in ,property demand in the UK. My home town is better each time I return, thanks to initiatives led by community volunteers such as my parents. For example, the area around the train station was a Conservative Party safe seat until 2019, when The, Green Party won ,79% of the vote. Tonbridge is added onto my London Children's Map here Trains Tonbridge is on the train lines from Charing Cross, Waterloo and London Bridge. It has ..read more

Obsession of the week has been volcanoes. I'm really enjoying it. I think it started with The Snail and the Whale (print activities) and a sticker book atlas. Find more sciencey eco stickers, toys, art supplies and learning resources in Vegan Family Guide. We tried to make a vinegar volcano, but only had balsamic vinegar, so it wasn't quite the same. You can also make a volcano with cola and mints. Toddler Vegan didn't mind, as they see volcanoes everywhere we go. Here are some of our recent expeditions. Make a big pile of cushions, blankets, duvets, in the living room or bedroom If you leave ..read more
