I often find myself following vegan influencers that are living their best tropical life and enjoying green smoothies by the beach every morning, and while aesthetically pleasing, I am not looking for a frozen drink most mornings of the long Minnesotan winter. These warm and cozy breakfasts are versatile and are sure to keep you full all morning long. As a work-from-home mom, I am often busy and can find it hard to create full meals 3 + times a day, so these go-to ideas are also perfect for meal prepping. 1. Loaded Oats I get it, oatmeal is often thought to be one of the most boring and b ..read more

Real Vegan Mama

The 4th trimester, or postpartum period, is a very sensitive time when it comes to hormones, healing, and finding the rhythm of your everchanging new life. While each experience is unique to the individual, I wanted to share 10 of my must-haves to help with postpartum. Some of these are specific to breastfeeding mamas due to that being the experience I had. 1. Elvie Curve While many breastfeeding moms know of the wonderous Haaka, the Elvie Curve is still relatively new and in my opinion, is far superior. This product fits comfortably in your bra and collects all of the breastmilk that would ..read more

KFC Beyond Fried “Chicken” // My Thoughts
Real Vegan Mama

I have been waiting for this day since the original trials in the UK and Atlanta and it is finally here! I was able to go down memory lane and try the vegan fried “chicken” from the new KFC and Beyond Meat collaboration. If you would like to watch my reaction and experience, head over to YouTube! My love for this particular fast food started at a young age as it was a special treat I got to have at my grandparent’s house. When I would stay for the night, my grandpa would bring home a big bucket of chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy. The best part was eating the leftovers for breakfast the n ..read more

5 Tips for Cloth Diapering (Beginner)
Real Vegan Mama

When I first started telling people that my husband and I were planning on cloth diapering our son, the majority of responses ranged from “you’re crazy” and “that is gross” to “that will last a week.” I must admit I was very overwhelmed by the initial dive into cloth diapering. The main reason was that there was too much information at my disposal. From the variety of styles of cloth diapers to directions for each type of washing machine, and even down to the small details such as diaper-safe creams and cloth wipes. I was in too deep and felt like I couldn’t find where to begin. Thankfully, ev ..read more

There is nothing better than treats and snacks galore while spending time playing games with family this time of the year. This sweet treat is sure to please everyone at your family gatherings, vegans and nonvegans alike! It honestly feels a bit silly to even call this a recipe because it is SO easy to make, but I just had t ..read more

Whether you are just waking up and fueling your body for the day ahead of you or needing an afternoon pick-me-up, this Cherry Almond Smoothie is sure to satisfy! I went to bed dreaming of smoothies a few nights ago and thought “I NEED a cherry almond smoothie!” I had never had one, but the next morning I rummaged through my cupboard and deep freezer to create this go-to breakfast option. I have been working hard to prioritize organic foods in my cupboard and fridge as you will see in the photo below. I know that fruit, cherries especially, can be quite expensive, but the Costco organic frozen ..read more

Meal Planning for a Vegan Family of 3

Because I am a work-part-time-from-home mom, we do budget our weekly groceries and have to set out pretty specific meal plans each week. I thought I would share an example of a 2-week meal plan for you on here for inspiration. I would be happy to share any recipes that are listed and I plan on creating a Youtube series dedicated to meal planning in the near future!  The way we plan out 2 weeks’ worth of meals is that we list 14 dinners and know that we can eat them in any order. Now if we decide to eat burgers, brats, and tacos in the first three days then things are going to get a bit bo ..read more

Each toy in the house, from the smallest animal figurine to his tall wooden ABC abacus, has become a genuine major league baseball. My son has quite the arm too. He locks his eyes on his target, usually a dog or just a spot across the room, takes aim, and lobs any and everything across. I swear he’s even nearing 90 mph. I was hit by one of these flying objects once, I should know! I blame myself. We have been enjoying “1…2…3…THROW!” for as long as I can remember and it is finally catching up to me. It is no longer just for innocent games of fetch in the backyard with the pups. It has turned in ..read more

I have no reason to be making this post besides the fact that I never want to forget tonight. It was not a special occasion, just a simple night filled with laughter and silliness. My goofy son was up and causing a raucous still at 8:40 p.m. and that was just the beginning of it. His short legs kicked out to each side as he wobble-ran back and forth across the entire house, living room to the kitchen, and back again, chasing his two best friends (Stella & Murphy.) He would pat them on the back and give them “love” (hugs) then cackle as he followed them and tormented them while they tried t ..read more

As a busy work-from-home mom, green smoothies have been great breakfast and lunches for me! This is my favorite recipe. Ever since I was pregnant and especially while nursing this has been my go-to. Sometimes I also add 1/4 of a cup of walnuts to this smoothie or half an avocado. It is also great to enjoy if you feel a cold or sickness coming on. Enjoy!
