Hello, we are moving our 22yo daughter from Seattle to Dallas this summer - there are three of us (my wife and I and our daughter) and we will be driving her car. We have four days to get her there. I am looking for some advice on the best route and where to stop on those three nights. This is not a sightseeing trip, sadly, but we are hoping to make some good memories.
Google tells us the quickest route is Boise, down through Salt Lake City, UT, down to Albuquerque, NM, over to Amarillo, TX, then to Dallas. But it looks like a good chunk of that is on state highways. Wouldn't it be better to ..read more

Hello everyone! I have to drive through the Appalachian mountains again this summer, from Indianapolis to Fayetteville NC. The last time I did I was so scared, nausea, miserable with all the "near the edge" roads through the mountains..can someone familiar with these routes please suggest the best routes with the flattest terrain and the least terrifying route through the mountains? Thank you so much ..read more

I mentioned flippantly on another thread that I missed solo travel. Whilst I have some ideas for further afield I am thinking maybe it's time to do something closer to home. My camper van just had its first MOT today and service so is ready for the road all bar a good clean and polish and a few little bits and pieces. Maybe it's all a sign?

So I’m planning for a roadtrip starting May from WA, USA thru Vancouver, to Banff, Calgary, and back down. I have penciled some main spots.
During this trip my plan is to hike and explore as much as I can. I have 3 months but I work remotely, so internet is important.
My plan:
- Surrey >> Vancouver >> Kelowna >> Golden >> Edmonton >> Calgary >> Kimberly >> Yellowstonw >> Seattle

- 3 months with some flexibility to stretch
- say longer at key locations- camp, airbnb, motels (or in car at times ..read more

It is not unhead of to see shoppers waiting outside a new store opening (think In-n-Out Burgers, Krispy Kremes, or Chick-f-Lay) but new ground could have been broken on Monday when 400-500 stood outside the store in 30 degree temps for the opening of the newest Buc-ee store.
This is a 74,000 square foot store. Buc-ee is based in Texas. More about Buc-ee's here.
I didn't make this clear -- this opening was this week - March 18th ..read more

On the 19th, Megan and I left the office early in the morning in search of desert wildflowers. There are fields of Desert Gold yellow flowers all along Ash Meadows Road between Pahrump and NV-371. Both sides of the road have dramatic displays of yellow flowers. We were hoping to find some Desert Five Spot -- but none were in any of the places we've found them in past "hunts."
We did a couple of things we've not done for years -- explored a bit more of the Ash Meadows National Wil ..read more

Megan and I did a short road trip this week. Left Las Vegas on Tuesday morning -- stayed two nights at the Hotel del Coronado on Coronado Island (near San Diego) and the drove back to the office on Thursday. About 888 miles -- the long way both to and from Las Vegas.
