As we reach the end of 2023, I am taking a moment to reflect on favorite stories, experiences and events of the year. I believe in dreaming big and want to make a meaningful difference in the world, particularly at this time when there is so much trouble all around. I am also taking a forward look at some of the things coming up in 2024 as converting dreams into reality continue to be a key focus. It would never have been possible to achieve any of my dreams without my team of family – husband Scott, daughter Linnea and family – and colleagues both in my professional and volunteer life. Thank you Anna King with Northwest Public Broadcasting/Northwest News Network for creating this excellent radio broadcast and article about the history of (Mool-Mool) the Fort Simcoe Native American boarding school in Washington. We feel truly privileged to be able to support Jon Shellenberger and Emily Washines with the Yakima Nation on this project. Listen to them talk about and paint a picture of the emotional trauma surrounding this very dark chapter of our history. https://www.kuow.org/stories/with-dogs-and-radar-volunteers-search-for-remains-at-mool-mool-or-fort-simcoe-state-park The pos ..read more

Keb Spreads Love at the Lynnwood Chamber of Commerce and the Swedish Club

Keb has retired from her career as a detection dog but she still enjoys being the ambassador for all search and rescue dogs. Most recently she was a much celebrated guest at a Lynnwood Chamber of Commerce lunch hour presentation where Suzanne and Guy shared missions described in A Dog’s Devotion. Keb has honed her ability “to get snacks” by looking cute and really, really hungry to an art. Between the Chamber of Commerce event and an evening presentation at the Swedish Club the same day, we literally SOLD OUT all our books and had to place an emergency order to fulfill orders. A good problem t ..read more

We are so thankful to be able to use our historically trained detection K9s to support the Yakama Nation Cultural Resources Management Program (under the direction of Jon Shellenberger) in locating unmarked Native American graves of children at Fort Simcoe, the site of the very first reservation boarding school in the United States. This is a very nice article written by Tammy Ayer who is dedicated to helping document and share what happened to the Native American children that were forcibly taken from their parents and subjected to all kinds of abuse. We just completed Phase Two with our dete ..read more

On Monday April 3, 2023 at the Seattle Mariners’ home game with Los Angeles Angels, 13-year-old K9 “Keb”, the 2022 American Humane Search and Rescue Hero Dog, caught the ceremonial first pitch of the game! Keb appeared at the home plate (and on the Big Screen), enjoyed some quality time with the Mariner Moose, and was honored during the Mariners’ “Bark at the Park” program. Our exciting evening began at the exclusive “Third Base Entry” at T-Mobile Park, where we were met by representatives of the Seattle Mariners, and led into the VIP lobby. We were then escorted through secret tunnels to ou ..read more
