As a cattle rancher, we obviously enjoy eating beef. It has great flavor (personally my favorite protein) and is affordable! Not only that but beef also contains 10 essential nutrients needed in our diets! It also contains 23 grams of protein per 3 ounce serving. Why not have beef every day? Below is a quick and easy recipe for Stir-Fry that can be thrown together in about 20 minutes! It’s a favorite at our house! It’s such a fresh meal that packed full of veggies, rice, and beef! Our toddler even enjoys it! Beef Stir-Fry 1 lb of either Top Round Steak, Top Sirloin Steak, or Flank Steak 1 ba ..read more

Respect Your Beef

As a rancher, I often get asked how I deal with the death on the ranch. How am I not sad or hurt when animals die? How do you name a steer and then butcher it and eat it? The average consumer is so removed from agriculture that it changes their perspectives on life and death. In today’s world, people often “humanize” animals. Consumers today often associate all animals similar to that of pets like cats and dogs. But the thing is, cattle are not pets. They don’t live in our home. They don’t wag their tail every time they see me coming. They are animals. They rely on me for food and water, but o ..read more

Some of you may not know, but I did an internship in college where I was a 4-H camp counselor. It was a long, busy summer, but I learned so much and met some great friends! One thing we did at camp every week for kids was cook in a dutch oven using charcoals. One of those meals was enchiladas, and it is now a family favorite at our house! Super easy to make and always delicious! In the summer, I still like to use our dutch oven and cook it outside with charcoals, but during the winter, I use a regular dutch oven and bake it inside! Here’s the recipe! Dutch Oven Enchiladas Ingredients: 2 lbs gr ..read more

Visions and Reality

There once was a girl who had a vision of what her life would be like after college. Thoughts of being on the West coast as a CFO and living in a house in a cute little suburb with a beautiful green yard. Well reality took a hard left turn after college and here I sit as a ranch wife, mother to three children and a yard full of toys, animal bones and the occasional cow turd.  Throughout this time as a stay-at-home mom (SAHM) and working ranch wife alongside my husband, there have been multiple times I’ve thought back to that vision I once had and wondered if I was “missing out”. Life with Max Odell

Max Odell Robison is truly one of a kind. He has such a fiery spirit. He is one of the most determined and kind hearted souls. He is the actual sour patch kid- naughty one minute and the sweetest little boy the next! He is extremely stubborn, too smart for his own good, and drives me nuts 85% of the time. Max is also the life of the party. He is a goofball and definitely going to be the class clown. I won’t be surprised one bit when he’s in the principal’s office someday for saying something he heard his dad say while working cows or trying to do some cool stunts on the playground. This boy i ..read more

Making Family Traditions

I love being in the chapter of life where we can make our own family traditions. One tradition that we unintentionally started is carving pumpkins with the Visser Family along with eating chili and cinnamon rolls for supper! We didn’t even realize we had started the tradition until some memories popped up that last year we had also had chili and cinnamon rolls while carving pumpkins! Sheridan makes some great chili so she generously offered to share her recipe with me! Crockpot Chili Ingredients: 1 tbs olive oil 1 large yellow onion, fine chopped 3 cloves of finely minced garlic 1 lb groun ..read more

Embracing a New Chapter

Change isn’t always an easy thing. As you all know, we welcomed our second baby boy to the world. This also welcomed a whole new set of challenges. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the chance to enjoy and embrace this new chapter in life, but it isn’t always easy. I remember a time before kids where I could hop on a horse and go to work or jump in the tractor to help with haying or feeding cows without thinking twice about it. Ranching is truly my passion and I enjoy nothing more than being able to do that. However, I’ve entered a new chapter in life: the Mommy Chapter. Its one that brings me ..read more

On August 18, 2021 Max and I welcomed our second baby boy to the family, Hayes Oscar Robison. He weighed in at 8 lbs 5 oz and was 21.5 inches long! He is doing so well and big brother loves him so much. Little Max is very protective of “his baby Hayes.” Here is the shortened version of his birth story! I was scheduled for an induction on August 18th. I had weeks and weeks of false labor and was more than ready for him to arrive! Hayes had his own plans and decided to surprise us by putting me in labor the night of the 17th. Thankfully Amma was at our house, so I got a delicious meal and a sho ..read more

As I’m planning and cleaning and preparing for the arrival of baby #2, I think about ways to make life a little simpler once baby arrives. One way for me to do that is pre-make some meals/food that I can pull out of the freezer, warm up, and serve to my family without having to mix ingredients or prepare in any way! There are a few meals that are simple and easy to prepare beforehand. The first meal is Tator Tot Hotdish. It’s super easy to make and always a favorite at our house! Here’s the recipe! Also, I will remind you that I am horrible at measuring and usually just go with the flow when i ..read more

With Risk Comes Reward

Today’s world is so different from the past. We don’t live in a time where a person can go buy a piece of land and some cows and be able to make all the ends meet. Getting started in ranching is hard, especially when you basically start from scratch. I technically am the 5th generation on our family’s ranch, but it has not been an easy road and just given to me. We are blessed to be able to have some family land to get us our start, but we have had to work tails off. It’s a risky business. We deal with fluctuating market prices, weather, managing livestock, expensive equipment costs, and so mu ..read more
