Longview Ranch’s addition of a small sawmill to the property has been a pivotal step in our ongoing commitment to sustainability and the flourishing health of the Longview Ranch forest. One of the key functions of our newly acquired sawmill is the efficient processing of dead or dying trees resulting from our meticulous efforts to space trees properly across Longview Ranch. Creating a well-maintained 12 - 15-foot range for trees ensures not only a healthier ecosystem but also a sustainable supply of timber for the many projects on Longview Ranch. The Longview Ranch is in the process of changing our cattle herd over to Red Angus mother cows.  It has been a busy spring calving out 160 first year heifers and another 140 second year mothers.  All has gone smoothly and Longview Ranch looks forward to these great cattle producing calves for the next 12 to 15 years.  These better quality cattle allow us to run fewer numbers of cattle total and still create the income we need to operate the ranch and ensure we have plenty of feed for the cattle and wildlife at Longview Ranch.   ..read more

Longview Ranch is happy to announce we have established carbon rights for our 16,000 acres of timber ground. Longview Ranch partnered with ANEW to get the forest inventoried and credits finalized. It has been a 2 year project getting this done. This will ensure that the forest ground stays in tack for the next forty years and the timber will never be clear cut. One of our biggest goals on the ranch is to have a healthy forest that will grow enormous healthy trees for generations to come. By establishing and selling the carbon rights it ensures the forest will be preserved and taken care of ..read more

Longview Ranch, located along Central Oregon’s historic Route 19 in Kimberly, maintains 30,000 stunning acres of diverse landscape. In an effort to maintain the main Longview Ranch house, the property’s talented crew undertook several renovations this summer, including replacing windows and restoring a corner of the 100-year-old home. Longview Ranch used rough sawn lumber milled at the full thickness of a 2’ x 6’ board and cut an angle on the outside, stacking them on one on top of the other, just as they would have 100 years ago. While this is a very slow process, Longview Ranch is committed ..read more
