Problems with ReSound Nexia (2024)

Hi, I currently own a ReSound Linx2 ITE and I'm quite happy with it (I have been wearing it for over 6 years). Now I want a new model and am trying out a ReSound Nexia ITE (custom made). The hearing aids make a good first impression; in particular the bluetooth connectivity is great (it connects immediately and the connection is 100% stable with an iPhone). But there is one thing: I understand people slightly less clearly than before. Hard to describe what it makes me understand less clear, but one indicator is that I heard some kind of minor crackling when someone speaks. Voices are also sli ..read more

Cost of Oticon Intent

How do you find the best cost? I am being charged $7000 for the Oticon Intent here in northern VA. That is $2500 over the price they site on their website. I understand I am also paying for free services but how do I find an audiologist who charges less? Or are people who are paying less ( I read a post where someone paid $4800) paying for their appointments as well? I’m just confused on the pricing. She did say in the next town over an Audi was charging $8000. Is it negotiable? I’ve been using this audiologist now for 10 years. Any advice? It’s my 2nd pair of HA’s and when I put them on I wa ..read more

Hello everyone!! So my team and I, a bunch of undergrads are planning on working on hearing aids, there are a bunch of low cost oems on Amazon already. But we want to know the problems that y'all face w the low cost ones, as we believe we will find a way to improve that experience. Other than that, what else do you find is missing or not being given the importance it should in the current products, would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions, thank you! submitted by /u/reysinnn [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Has anyone paired their Oticons with a PlayStation 5?

I’d like to use my hearing aids to listen to audio from my PlayStation and use an external microphone to talk to my friends. I think the only way to do this would be to use the tv adapter by Oticon. I wanted to see if anyone else has done a set up like this? submitted by /u/Narhen [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Family's reaction to saying I need hearing aids

Hi all! First time posting here. I've suspected I've had hearing loss for a while and finally got a hearing test last summer that confirmed that I have moderate high frequency hearing loss. It's taken me a year to finally decide that I should get hearing aids and I'm excited to start my journey! However, my family's comments about getting hearing aids has been less than encouraging. When I told some family of my decision, I was met with skepticism, as if they thought I was overreacting and didn't really need them-- mainly from older people in my family. After showing my father in law my audio ..read more

I'm trying to help my Pops find a hearing aid. TL;DR We're looking for something you can just charge and start working, no frills, no doctors. He's 88 with some significant health problems (read: time may be short). Everything I've read on Reddit says schedule an appt - where he's at, it takes weeks (I did call around today), and he has incredibly limited transportation. It's not an option. He wants simple, and easy to manage, single button, etc. Last year he tried some junk he saw on TV, turns out it's junk, and just too small for him to use. He honestly doesn't care what it looks like, he j ..read more

Bone anchored hearing aid thoughs

About 15 years ago I had my right eardrum burst and dislocated the bones inside, I had a surgery to put the bones back together, and to rebuild the ear drum. Needless to say the hearing on that side is not the best. At my last 2 hearing test, it was suggested a bone conduction hearing aid to help with the hearing loss. I have never used a hearing aid, was going to talk to someone last year and my world fell apart. I do use bone conduction headphones to listenri my phone, that I am happy with. What is people's experience with bone anchored hearing aid? submitted by /u/Mo_Caesar [visit reddit ..read more

Returning Hearing Aids

So I have recently gotten hearing aids and I was wondering if anyone has ever just returned the one hearing aid? Let me explain; when I got my hearing tested, I had a borderline mild loss in my left ear, but borderline moderate loss in my right ear. The audiologist did say I could only get one hearing aid if I wanted but I was worried about the balance between one ear being assisted and the other not. Now that I have had the hearing aids a while, I don’t think I get any benefit from my left ear and having only the right one in isn’t as jarring as I thought it would be. I just wondered if it w ..read more
