Hello, in the papercraft field everyone associates Bruno Van Hecke/ Scissors and Planes with aircraft models. Nevertheless, he has done a few designs of ships like the fleet tug USS Navajo. I enlarged it from 1/1250 to 1/400 and built it straight from the paper. If you want a more detailed model of this ship, get the one from Gerry from Ecardmodels, also in 1/400. I am building both Kaga and Akagi side by side. Presented here is the lower hull framing for Akagi. 1st opinion, the Angraf kit is way better designed for assembly and although still lacking good instructions is much better than the Dom Bomagi kit. Another really nice feature is the construction of the hanger being entirely separate assemblies. I think I may be able keep the separate right up to the end. Found the Ovalmaltine sailboat, thought it would be an easy build. Waterline model, no hull to deal with, small enough for the shelf. That proved to be a wrong premise. But it came out well, better than some of my stuff I did earlier in the year. Scale is 1/72, the "Waverunner" jet ski is my own interpretation from another project idea of mine, but may never be started. After The Titanic, the Carpathia (1/1200) and the Neptune (1/600), I come bzck to boats and paper, but this time with a big one, a 1/200 model of the Soldek. The Soldek is the first cargo ship built in Poland after WWII. Not specially interested in cargo and in Poland, this boat has some fame since she is now a museum boat in Gdansk, Poland. This is my presentation of the Kaga from Dom Bogami. I have the laser cut frames, major time savings. The model is printed very dark, difficult to see the fold lines and any real detail. I will paint the ship dark gull grey on the vertical surfaces to bring out the detail. These instructions are extremely lacking with minimal images to show how the ship goes together, maybe the worse I've seen.
