PÅJAMA BRYNHILDA (1775) – Swedish gunboat - Scratch
Ships of Scale

Hello, in recent years I have prepared several models of small boats, they are not majestic like the frigates or liners that I see here, but I think that those gunboats, fishing boats or small sailing merchants have their charm. Please, excuse my english Påjama Brynhilda (Part 1a of 6) Introduction In August 2022, I finished a swedish gunboat, based on some Amati plans as well as photos of model, which served as a guide and also with the support of several... I'm from The Netherlands. I live in Hoogeveen. A long time ago I have been building plastic models of mainly aeroplanes and rockets, I even had a model of Thunderbird 2. During my working days the modelbuilding got to a standstill, but now that I'm retired I am about picking that up again. In a few weeks I start the building of Kolderstok's Statenjacht. This will be my very first woorden build, so I keep my fingers crossed ..read more

Royal Navy kite winch circa ww2
Ships of Scale

Hi folks I am currently building a ww2 RN armed trawler, these small ships sometimes flew from their fore mast an admiralty kite / balloon as a fighter deterrent. What I would like to know is does anyone have a photograph or description of the winch? The only photograph I have come up with shows one only in silhouette and is pretty blurred. I have attempted to build one with reference to a ww1 mobile balloon unit that showed a hand cranked winch on the back of a flatbed... One of whitch is Construction and fitting of a English Man of War.along with some Hanan books and The Fully Framed Model HMS Swan Class. If anyone id interested let me know and I will post a full list of what I... Read more ..read more

Futuramente, espero vir a... Read more ..read more

. The very launch of this thread has been made possible by the kind decision of curator Jonas Hedberg to make a recent 3D scan of the hitherto unidentified ship model Ö 6 from the collection of the Sjöhistoriska museet in Stockholm available for download. More information about this promising model can be found on the museum's website: Fartygsmodell - Sjöhistoriska museet / DigitaltMuseum And on the Sketchfab website: Ship of the line, c. 1700 | Linjeskepp, ca 1700 -... Mantua Cannoniera Olandese no.2
Ships of Scale

Although I've already built this, I did take photos as I went along so I thought you might be interested. It's a strange looking thing, flat bottomed and 'sharper' at the stern rather than the bow. I'm not a fan of repetitive fiddly things and masses of sails and rigging, so 5 big canon and one main mast + bow-sprit, etc seemed within my capabilities. It does have a massive sail area compared to beam which makes me think a good blow would tip it over, but it's a model of a real ship so it... Read more ..read more
