For concrete benchmarks for defeat of the far right
Communist Party USA Blog

History and objective correctness of unity against the far right The ultra-left continuously tells us the Democrats deserve to lose, and that the defeat of the center opens space for the left. What historic possibilities did Hitler, Pinochet, Franco or Suharto open? In less extreme cases, precisely what opportunities for the far left were realized by the victories of Thatcher and Reagan? Again and again, the answer is that the victory of the far right does nothing good whatsoever for the prospects of socialism, but rather drowns those prospects in rivers of blood. Reform and revolution ..read more

The changing character of the extreme right

Five years ago The Communist Party USA held its 31st National Convention in Chicago. We celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Party’s founding at that convention in 2019. Now we prepare for our 32nd convention in 2024. We have a lot to carefully consider as we update our program and select our next National Committee. This is the Kansas City Club’s contribution to that discussion. New members and social media  As the membership of the Party has exploded over the last few years, many new members have reported long waits to hear back from their Districts or Clubs. The uncommitted movement and voting against fascism
Communist Party USA Blog

It has been said time and again that communists must run in elections, build the progressive and labor movement and defeat fascism. What are the implications this has on the present election where the current Democratic U.S. President and Democratic Party nominee has abandoned the progressive platform that he ran on, allowed Republicans to pass their backwards legislation in several states, allowed abortion to be banned, and is currently abetting a genocide and stoking a regional war? The progressive answer was to protest as loudly as possible and let the Democratic Party know that the ..read more

Campus ceasefire protests deserve support: Keep the pressure on!
Communist Party USA Blog
by Joe Sims

The Communist Party USA salutes the university student protests and occupations as they struggle for a ceasefire in Gaza for divestment from the Israeli occupation of Palestine. Keep the pressure on!  We denounce in the strongest possible terms the repression and arrests of the protesters, at Columbia, Yale, NYU the University of Michigan and other universities where hundreds have been jailed and suspended at the behest of university administrators. We support the constitutional and democratic right for students, youth, and workers to organize and protest against the Israeli-led g ..read more

Reply to Forward Together

The Colorado May Day Club’s recent conversation on the CPUSA National Committee discussion document Forward Together did not produce a uniform position. Our disagreements and ambiguities, we feel, help to illuminate the primary contradiction we seek to address here. The contradiction is that between the need for a united front in the struggle against fascism in the U.S. and the global struggle for the liberation of Palestine and against the Zionist-inflicted genocide there. We hope to see the Party acknowledge that this contradiction presents both challenges and opportunities for revol ..read more

De-escalate now!

Fuel was added to the hellfire that rages in the Middle East when Iran retaliated against Israeli aggression by sending hundreds of drones and missiles against Israeli military bases. This was just the latest escalation in an explosive and economic war the US has waged on Iran, with Israel’s direct participation, a war that has ebbed and flowed since the Iranian revolution of 1979 that deposed a US-installed dictator. The current context includes Israel’s genocidal war on Palestinians, aided and abetted by the US with money, weapons and diplomatic cover. Israel’s bombing of Gazan civil ..read more

Maruweka (Hello). My name is Rick Tabenunaka, I’m a citizen of the Comanche Nation. I have a masters in Indigenous People’s Law. I am a decolonial communist, and a party member. I have been organizing for 20 years, and I have experienced the same roadblock when it comes to the American left. Many non-Indigenous communists are limited in their knowledge of American history, especially Black and Indigenous history. Most non-Indigenous communists read the Marxist “classics” (Engles, Marx, Lenin, Mao, etc.), but have not read many decolonial perspectives. This lack of understanding of hist ..read more

Preparing to wage and win the class war under conditions of climate collapse
Communist Party USA Blog
by Eric Brooks

We must immediately begin the lengthy process of altering our Party Program to prepare ourselves ideologically, strategically, and organizationally for fighting the class war under conditions of climate collapse. To be 100% clear, we are already beginning to be fighting under those conditions right now. It is slowly unfolding. While we may be able to halt the process before it escalates too far, there is nothing we can do to prevent the onset of conditions we would associate with a catastrophic collapse of society. Two main questions we still need to answer are… Whether our program an ..read more

The United States is not a fascist country
Communist Party USA Blog

The United States is not a fascist country. We do not live under a fascist government, nor do we live in a fascist society. While pockets of something approximating fascism have existed and sometimes still persist in the United States, most notably racist Klan terror in the Jim Crow south, they are in the process of being struggled against and stamped out. This is proof of the working class’s growing self-awareness, and proof of working class power when organized. Communists understand better than anybody the limitations of the Democratic Party and other bourgeois democratic electoral ..read more
