Amp gains

I just finished my first somewhat high end build. I've been playing around with setting gains with my oscilloscope. Is it weird that that I found the best setting with different db tones? HU 1000hz 0db maxed at 50 no clip 1000hz -2.5db on my 4 channel for passive 2 way components & coaxials 40hz -10db for my 2 12s To me, at max volume everything blends together well. Now I guess it's time to tune it with REW submitted by /u/Material-Tomorrow784 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Could this work?

I have finished the design for the subwoofer enclosure and am right now saving so i can get the parts. Now i dont have any tools at home besides a handsaw and a drill and screwdriver. I dont want to buy a jigsaw or circular saw as i dont trust myself using those in an apartment like mine. Could i instead of using those just cut the wood about 1/2 inch bigger than it needs to be and then file it down to size? submitted by /u/veedyd [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

This might not be the score of a lifetime, but it's darn close. Lii F-15 full range 15 in full range drivers from goodwill!

I was certainly not expecting this going in the doors that day. Little did I know. Built a makeshift baffles from the leftovers after building the Tarkus. This is a new place, the room treatment is in the works. They feel a bit shouting in the mids. And they will definitely benefit from a properly crossed subwoofer. submitted by /u/lakmus85_real [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Parts density is pretty good, but I wanna try shrinking it even further by standing the resistors up and ommiting the bridge rectifier I'm feeding the rectifier DC anyway, although I may use a smaller lower rated rectifier cause the one I have is overkill for my pourposes Sounds good, runs good Look up Peter vis (or viz, I forget) and the schematic will be on reddit on a old snoo profile I had submitted by /u/Outrageous-Drink3869 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Classic test CDs (looking for files)

Two classic test CDs -- Pierre Verany and Philips -- were used by many audio and hifi magazines and service technicians in testing/calibrating CD players. In magazine reviews, journalists would mention the "Pierre Verany or Philips test CD" , by name, when reporting results. Some of the Philips CDs were never for sale, but given to techs and repair facilities. In any case, they have been long out of print, and are quite expensive in the used market. Please help find/share files or whole disc rip. Pierre Verany: https://www.discogs.com/release/8431815-Various-Digital-Test-106-Plages-De-Demonst ..read more
