Just curious if some of you have been inspired by the Hyphn for DIY design or if there's potentially useful concepts in there for DIY? Or is this just basically a pointless gimmick design considering cost/benefits? Featuring the new M-Array high- and mid-frequency driver array and four force-cancelled 8” bass drivers per speaker Click to expand... Lots of interesting design features, but I was mainly curious about the notion of having opposing drivers pointing towards each other, and having the... Read more ..read more

Or is this just basically a pointless gimmick design considering cost/benefits? Lots of interesting design features, but I was mainly curious about the notion of having two drivers pointing towards each other, and having the sound effectively radiate from the side of the drivers. Must act as omnidirectional, but not really, since it's not omni in the... Read more ..read more

Help with a math problem - converting Earthworks axial cal file to 90 deg

I'm trying to figure out a math problem that I thought would be easy but is ending up being more difficult than I expected. I'm trying to create a 90 deg cal file for an Earthworks M30. I have the current cal file ("ECF") as well as a "90 deg typical response" ECF from Earthworks. So I want to modify the mic's ECF to incorporate the HF compensation from the "typical response" file. I've attached both files here. PS: I realize I could crate a 90 deg cal file using John Reekie's method... Read more ..read more

Modulus style error correction, do others use it?

I was skimming a review on Stereophile and saw this: "The BMRs were being driven by a recently launched Van Alstine NPI power amplifier (55Wpc into 8 ohms, $1199). Van Alstine rep Mithat Konar explained that the NPI separates itself from the pack with Advanced Nested Architecture (ANA), a technology that incorporates a dual global correction circuit, reducing nonlinearities "to the vanishing point."" It sounded similar to the Modulus-86 amp with similar output too. Even the... Read more ..read more

DIY ES9826Q ADC for amps FR measurements etc

hi, I have a DIY amp project going on and have a couple of square cm left on a PCB (not the amp pcb). I thought it could be neat to use that extra space to add a simple ADC to measure mainly amplifier frequency response and maybe some other random measurements without risking my good ADC. I don't need much accuracy, just something that if i break i wont cry. the idea is to interface it to a raspberry pi via i2s or use the spdif output. I have used before a cheap interface (M-track solo) but... Read more ..read more

As the title says, it'a project for DIY a Realiser A16 like device by using some open source project and some public availabe product. Here is the diagram shows an overview of the project: Explainations: The Core logic for Realiser A16 has few parts, and they can be replaced with some avaibale product: 1. Create BRIR (binaural room impulse responses): can accompished by using the Impulcifer(https://github.com/jaakkopasanen/Impulcifer), a Audio interface and two good small... Read more ..read more

Hello everyone, I have a pair of KEF IQ3 Speakers and lately one of them was damaged because of feedback. I would like to try to repair it but I don't have much experience in the field so I was hoping to get some help from the people here. Ideally I would be able to find the necessary spare parts and go to a local repair cafe where they could help me with the repair. I made a short recording comparing the damaged speaker with the healthy one. You can listen to it here... Read more ..read more

Building a theater room for a friend. 15 x 20 Doors back to the left of the room. The corner next to the doors speakers make a hiss noise not evern connected to wires. No other spots in the room does this happen. I have had 2 other people listen to this noise to make sure its not me. The room has its own 150 amp panel, it's own ventilation not connected to the rest of the house, mini split to control the room temp, 3 layers of sheet rock. I have moved other speakers into said corner... Read more ..read more
