Ozempic and similar drugs for Type 1?

Why Ozempic, Mounjaro, and GLP-1s Could Be Game Changers for Type 1 Diabetes – Diabetes Daily Came across this article which started off interesting but ended up baffling me. Would appreciate hearing from anybody who has tried Ozempic or similar in an off-label way as implied by this article. FYI I am certainly not endorsing the off label use of these drugs for Type 1 D…but Dr. Garg (the researcher highlighed in the article) seems to be: "Eventually, however, Garg thinks that almost everyone with type 1 diabetes will be using a GLP-1, even people who are not overweight: “There are benefits abo ..read more

IAPS

iAPS is DIY software for use as an Integrated Automated Glycemic Controller (iAGC) for use in an AID system. Think of it as the software brains that integrates data from a CGM and controls an insulin pump…ala Tandem Control IQ, Omnipod 5, etc. but much more configurable and more widely compatible with CGMs and pumps. I’m providing this for those interested in or using iAPS because often people stay current on the programs and documents they use. I’m not taking sides on the merits or perspectives indicated below. There has been quite some controversy over the last couple of months regarding i ..read more

Started a new job, and that is great, as the last one I had ZERO work/life balance (was working early, late, never taking breaks and still had piles of work). I’d check my email before and after work to stay on top of what was coming, had to take anxiety medication to get through meetings because the role was extremely front facing and I am shy and introverted, I did my best but it was physically and mentally exhausting. So, new job. I’m a week in and I’m bored out of my freaking mind. I know there is a period of adjustment, but this is even WORSE than my previous state in terms of my diabetes ..read more

Feeling like a yoyo

For about the past two weeks, my BG has been up and down, with both high and low alarms sounding seemingly at random. CGM changed. Injection sites changed. Insulin vials changed. Transmitter still good for a few weeks. The only constant was stress, as I awaited and prepped for my first Colonoscopy since being diagnosed with T1D. I lurked on the posts on this forum to learn whatever I could and to hear your wise words and experiences. You, my friends, did not disappoint! With the procedure over and no evidence of cancer, my stress is lowered, BG is flat lining, and once again I owe a heart felt ..read more

A1c - why bother?

In December, my nurse practitioner put me on lisinopril and atorvastatin preventatively - my lab work has been great for the past few years but since I’ve been type 1 for almost 30 years, I guess they recommend this as a standard of care. Unfortunately my blood sugars have been awful this past month and I think it’s due to the atorvastatin. From what I’ve read, it can cause insulin resistance. I stopped taking it (with NP’s permission) a few days ago and my numbers have been back to good. I have a regular checkup with her next month and for lab work, all she wants is an A1c. I’m surprised they ..read more

Approximately how many carbs do you eat per day?

Just curious. These days I don’t consider myself low carb, but I probably am in comparison to a lot of people. I am bad about entering my carbs in my pump. If I were to guess I’d say I average around 75g. 7 posts - 7 participants Read full topic ..read more

I am approved for a new Mobi system and seeking feedback from users, Likes, dislikes, The Tandem Sigi looks much more user friendly and is entirely tubeless, also using interchangeable insulin cartridges, so no self-fill. Might just wait unless their is an upgrade pathway. 1 post - 1 participant Read full topic ..read more

FreeStyle Libre2, accuracy, wither notes

I’m a 53 year T1D (lucky!), trying to be more strict in patterns after a good long stretch of getting away with much. I have been on an OmniPod Classic for 3 years, and using a FreeStyle Libre2 for 18 months. I do like seeing all the data, but noticed last week it was running often 2 mmol/L lower than what my PDM records. But once time, my body was definitely sending the low signals, but the CGM read 7.7 while the blood test gave 2.6! The sensor was on its last day of a 1 day run. I can deal with that as I always get good low signals that old fashioned way. I have an appointment with a dietici ..read more
