Many preppers are looking for a communications plan. The second consern they have is evading detection. Direction finding of low power transmitters would be more difficult with a frequency hopping plan. Changing bands from VHF to UHF would further complicate direction finding. I am surprised that I am not seeing more guys talking about and posting about GMRS. Especially when guys are talking about citizen band radio that has only a 5Watt output. Hello folks. I very nearly bought a pair of Cobra walkie talkies at the local farm supply store. The boasted an impressive 16 mile range. I decided not to impulse buy them, and after reading some reviews, it seems like you'd be hard pressed to do a half mile with them.
