I wanted to create a site that would be a resource for those younger guys and gals who are thinking about getting into jazz guitar as a profession and don't know what to expect. Lyle Robinson is the owner/creator/publisher and editor of Jazz Guitar Life, an online magazine dedicated to the Jazz Guitar and its community of fine players worldwide.

Jazz Guitar Life “sat down” with Jon Raney, the son of the great Jazz Guitarist Jimmy Raney and younger brother of the equally wonderful Jazz Guitarist Doug Raney. Jon shares wonderful and entertaining memories about Jimmy and Doug and his thoughts and recollections are quite candid when they need to be. Even though we spent over an hour and a half in conversation, there’s definitely going to be a part 2. So stay tuned for that
In the meantime also encourage you to check out Jon’s website/blog for more stories, information, audio clips and transcriptions at jonraney.com. As always, I’d love t ..read more

I recently read a Pat Metheny Solo Guitar show review on the Jazz Guitar Chat Facebook group and asked the original poster – Warren Cobb – if he wouldn’t mind me adding it here. Warren graciously agreed and so here it is. His review got me all excited to see Pat’s current tour and I am hoping he gets to Montreal sooner than later. Enjoy Warren’s review!

Regardless if you’re a beginning student of Jazz Guitar or an established player, we all have at least five albums that we cannot be without! With that said, Jazz Guitar Life has asked Jazz Guitarist Charlie Sigler what his five would be (assuming that he knew before hand that he was going to be stuck on a desert island and that said island had electricity and a full component stereo system)

I first “met” Mark Kleinhaut years ago on Facebook and have enjoyed his playing ever since (you can check out two CD reviews of his at A Balance of Light and Secrets of Three). Recently he acquired a Beauty of a Guitar by Master Luthier Tom Ribbecke and was gracious enough to share it with us. So, without further adieu, enjoy this true Jazz Guitar Beauty!
