I thought I'd never stop working. But that seems to have changed. I finished my last Travel Contract in February 2023 and haven't taken a Nursing paycheck since. Planned to over the winter, but things didn't work out as I expected and I'm sort of glad.  The past year I've been able to survive on the SS monthly payment and have dipped into one of my retirement accounts for a little extra, but the advisor assures me it won't cause me to go "Broke".  I've spent the past few winters in the lower Midwest and  have enjoyed some cold and snowy weather without the deep freezes of the Mi ..read more

Vehicle tie down

I tried searching with the information in the title and came up with a lot of stuff with the work Vehicle, but nothing in the first couple pages that included tying  them down.    I have to do some repairs to the garage in the trailer. I also have been planning on moving the "E" Track that was perfect for the Vehicross, but not so much for the Jeep. Jeep has a narrower track.  Initially I thought I'd just do the "Airline" track, but yesterday I visited with a neighbor who had just loaded his Jeep in his pull behind cargo trailer. (Has a real Motorhome) He is trying loading ..read more

FT Lifestyle Viability

It's been a while since I've had to dive deeply into the consideration of the viability of my lifestyle choice. This gives rise to the question: Where are the financially safe states/regions for annuals? I'm writing this in mid-March 2024. And while I know that there are absolutely no certainties in this world, I still like to make good decisions. (3/13/24) -- Given responses so far, I should clarify ..read more

Hello all. We’ve been FT since January and using Escapees’s mail service to forward to general delivery at the USPS office in the cities where we have lived. We’ve been in Eagle Nest NM for the past 4 months with no mail problems. We’re getting ready to move to Hobbs NM. I called the post office there and was told I had to complete a general delivery form AND it is only good for 30 days. I would then to purchase a PO Box. This is the first I’ve heard about this. We’ve had our mail sent to general delivery in 3 other cities without problems. Have others experienced this? Or is this a new Louis ..read more

We are former fulltimers and now physically live in Custer, SD.  For those of you domiciled in SD - the state law on 30 Day residency may likely be repealed soon. The SD Senate passed a bill to repeal it this past week. This repeal is supported by the SD Secretary of State because of a variety of issues, some legal and some administrative. Here is a link to a full report from a very informative website: https://southdakotasearchlight.com/briefs/state-senate-votes-to-ditch-30-day-residency-requirement-for-voter-registration/   I was not aware SD passed this 30 day rule las ..read more
