NCMD Membership Secretary, David Millington, was recently invited by our printers PCS to have a guided tour of their production facility. We’d just ordered a new batch of 20,000 NCMD welcome letters and membership cards. Sales Manager, Andy Philbin talked us through the process. “The NCMD Card and Fobs are produced using 100% recycled PVC and are printed 16 to a sheet. The recent press launch of the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) 2022 Annual Report was a great success. Hosted by Sir Mark Jones the new Head of the British Museum, there was a strong turnout. Including members of the Portable Antiquities Advisory Group, which includes the NCMD represented by Alan Tamblyn, Dave Crisp and David Millington. Alan was speaking with Sir Mark, and he was asked to pass his thanks onto our members for the significant contribution made to our national heritage. Alan said, “It was great to meet Paddy and Andy Hooper and ‘Jelly’ from Colchester, all very responsible detectorists who are passionate about the hobby. Rhys and the guys from the BBC did a great job in understanding that the hobby isn’t all about ‘treasure’ and ‘gold dances’.
