Calypso Time! [Hell Bunny]

Hell Bunny are so good at making sweet little sun dresses, especially in a tropical print. Pretty much every year they release one or more new tropical prints as part of their spring/summer range, and my favourite this year is their Calypso print. Now, this might shock some of you, as I happily state that I just don’t like pink–but I’m a complicated woman, and that statement, like many others, comes with caveats. Like, ‘except for lipstick,’ or ‘unless it’s paired with black, or green.’ Well, would you look at that, this print has both of those! It’s just a cute summer print, and it makes for ..read more

Black in the Bluebells [Hell Bunny]

Over the last few years I’ve developed a real love for maxi dresses. There’s just something about the floaty feeling of fabric flowing about one’s feet—the lighter weight the fabric, the better. No need for petticoats, checking straight stocking seams, or even shaving your legs if you don’t want to—it’s just you, your cute dress, and the regal feeling of a good swish, swish, swish as you walk. I’ve also come to love black clothing over the past few years—long term readers will know I once found it boring compared to layers of colour!—so this Mortem maxi dress is a great combo of those two rece ..read more

Back at it, With Clarinda-Lee [Miss Candyfloss]

I’m back, baby, and so is the sun! Well, kind of. It’s warm enough to dry my washing in the conservatory and to make sure the butter dish isn’t left out on the counter in that one spot where the sun funnels its morning rays when it is, indeed, sunny. And it was even sunny enough for a few hours yesterday that when I shot this dress for you all I didn’t get goosebumps or a red nose! Ah, the many joys of spring. Now, I’m sure the rain will sweep back over these fair shores in, oh, a mere matter of days, if not hours–it is, after all, a Bank Holiday weekend here in the UK, which typically means b ..read more

A Little Update
Miss Amy May
by missamymay

Don’t panic! I’m all good Hey lovelies! For the past month it’s sporadically occurred to me that maybe I should add a little update on here to explain why I haven’t posted in a while. I kept putting it off because there were some items I expected to review in January and obviously that would’ve kickstarted posts again, but I’ve had an update that those items now won’t be arriving until February. It’s occurred to me that with such a long and unprecedented wait between posts, it’s possible some people might think I’ve stopped blogging without announcing it, or, worse yet, might be worrying the ..read more

Anna? Check [Hearts and Roses London]
Miss Amy May

I adore checks, tartans, and plaids. My brain loves visual order and symmetry, as well as things that match–basically most things that just make immediate visual sense. In that way, the fact that a checked print fabric can include multiple colours, whether cohesive or clashing, without threatening to register as ‘too busy’ makes it a soothing way to layer colour in the winter months especially, when it’s very easy to dip only into more muted tones now that one’s tropical prints and more exuberant summer pieces have been safely packed away for the year. A check print can still be bold when it p ..read more

It’s my favourite time of the year—Miss Candyfloss have released a new Autumn/Winter line! I love seeing what they produce year round, but there’s something extra special to me about their cold weather lines. They mix and match with so many vintage design elements that it produces items that are complex and elegant in a way that makes it impossible not to go ‘oh, that’s a Miss Candyfloss piece!’ when you see one. They’re experts at playing with contrasting textures, patterns and colours, as well as structural design features like peplums, asymmetric necklines, even removable bows and scarves ..read more

Pretty Little Serpente [Charlie Stone Shoes]

The green Serpente flats by Charlie Stone Shoes were originally launched back in the summer of 2021 as part of their Magic of Porto collection, a line of four shoes designed to represent the four houses of a certain wizarding school, with inspiration taken from the art nouveau architectural elements found in the Portuguese city of Porto. At the time I loved the Serpente design and was tempted to buy myself a pair, but I got in my head about how likely I was to wear them often considering I already owned a pair of emerald green flats that I didn’t wear much. (Readers: said flats didn’t fit me c ..read more

Every season I look forward to seeing what Charlie Stone Shoes release, as their glamorous flats are always as beautiful as they are practical. For this autumn/winter season their line is being proclaimed as their Dark Academia Era, an ode to that much loved aesthetic you’ve no doubt spotted all over social media the past couple years. According to Charlie Stone, this line is “inspired by the pull of old books, gothic chateaus, creaky staircases that wind along endless bookshelves and the promise of adventure between the pages of our favourite stories.” The novel The Picture of Dorian Grey by ..read more

My Sewing Journey [Projects 1-7]

I’ve been learning to sew for 4 months now. Throughout my adult life most of my hyper fixation hobbies have only lasted 3-6 months (word up, knitting and bedazzling!) with blogging as the only long term exception. Like, BIG EXCEPTION. Like, it’s been almost 10 years. And with that in mind, I’m fully aware that sewing posts probably aren’t going to be something all of my readers are interested in, which is totally fine. But I’m really enjoying this newfound and constantly improving skill I’m attempting to acquire, and historically I’ve always been able to share the things I’m excited about wit ..read more

Beauty Bakerie Matte Lip Whip Review + Swatches
Miss Amy May

Beauty Bakerie is, in their own words, a cosmetics company ‘on a mission to spread the spirit of kindness and sweetness.’ A black owned company founded and led by breast cancer survivor Cashmere Nicole, their products are cruelty-free, vegan-friendly and gluten-free, and all are undeniably adorable in their bakery inspired packaging. I have no concept of how long their Lip Whips have been around, but over the past year I’ve seen several of my favourite pinups mention on social media that these are one of their favourite lip products, so I was excited to give them a try. The matte version appe ..read more
