If you frequented the malls in the 80s as a teen, you probably have heard of Chess King. It was a popular fashion store for young men between the ages of 12 and 20 (teenagers) who were searching for some trendy clothes on a budget in the 80s. Everything from acid-washed jeans to denim jackets, Chess King carried it. In fact, this store had something for jocks, nerds, bad boys, preps and every young guy in the 80s. Perhaps one of the factors that made Chess King so popular was the fact that the clothes were cheaper than the big name brands like Calvin Klein. But one of my personal favorite aspe ..read more

Can you imagine having to drive somewhere just to play video games? Of course not. Way too much of a hassle when you can just plug in and unwind at home. The video game crash of 1983 is all but a distant memory now, but before then, hanging out at the arcade was what the cool kids did after school. Galaga, Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros. and so many more were the drivers of the gaming industry.
But while many believe that the video game crash of ’83 occurred due to the release of home video game consoles, it was actually a number of factors.

Pac-Man is one of the most simple yet challenging games ever produced. It appeals to all ages due to its simplicity and draws you in with how easy it looks. It even made its creator Toru Iwatani filthy rich because the concept is so simple and alluring that players become obsessed, investing weeks worth of time in attempts to reach a new high score.
Despite its simplicity, Pac-Man is almost impossible to beat. Most people don’t even pass level 3, despite ever reaching 256, the highest level you can reach before the game breaks.

The 1980s. So many songs. So many one hit wonders. While countless artists struggled to make it in the 80s, not everyone can be the next Michael Jackson or Van Halen. In fact, there are so many one hit wonders that when you play their music you may not even be able to recognize the artist. But back then, there were so few outlets to become famous apart from MTV, unlike the digital world we live in today, where everyone has a voice. Nevertheless, these songs don’t deserve any less credit than their famous counterparts performed by the legends.

As one of the more popular bands from the life of rock, Skid Row has sold over 20 million albums from 1986-1996. They’re still performing today, but their best years included Dave Sabo and Scotti Hill on the guitar, Sebastian Bach on lead vocals, Rob Affuso on the drums and Rachel Bolan on the bass. Their best album was of course their first, Skid Row, released in 1989 with their top hits:
“18 and Life”
“I Remember You”
“Youth Gone Wild”
They’ve also managed to pick an amazing band name that seems to fit them well as a heavy metal band. But as to how they’ve chosen it is a big question for ..read more

Long hair, makeup, ripped clothes, punk attitude, girls and for many, endless drugs were what made up the life of the rockstar. The 80s was the decade of the Young Generation X, the age of the rebellion against their parents, rules and the laws of society. Rock n’ Roll was an escape from the real world, a time to be free of the confines of everyday life. For millions of young fans, they clung to this music as a way to be free and away from their parents. Women wore heavy makeup, jewelry and soaked their hair in Aqua Net while the guys loved being bad boys with their mullets, leather jackets a ..read more

The Outfield was an English rock band based in London, England and achieved success during the mid 80s. They’re best known for their hit single “Your Love”, with the lineup of guitarist John Spinks, vocalist and bassist Tony Lewis and drummer Alan Jackman.
Despite little success in their homeland, Britain, they had much better luck overseas in the US. They began recording during the early 80s and released their first album, Play Deep, in 1985 through Columbia Records. The album reached No. 9 on the Billboard 200 list, followed by achieving triple Platinum in the US. Their single “Your Love” r ..read more
