Gas in oil??
Raptor Forum

We were working on my buddies raptor and the oil tank started overflowing and when we opened it up, we found out the oil was full of gas. The only thing we can think of is that the carbs are flooding the cylinder with gas and causing it to fill the crank case with gas. But while we were riding it around before we discovered this problem, the bike ran perfectly. Any thoughts are appreciated! Thank you ..read more

Blowing white smoke
Raptor Forum

Hey got a 2008 raptor 350 that runs great for the most part. Other than the fact that when you first start it up it blows white smoke out the back like crazy. And sometimes if you rev it even if it’s warm it still will. I assume it’s burning oil. Would this just mean it needs piston rings? Or could there be more to the issue? Thanks ..read more

What's up everyone, after years of lurking I finally made an account ?. Southern Colorado rider of a 2009 700 SE with a 795cc big bore kit @ 12.5:1, Monster Dual Shorties, FCI, Stage 3 Hot Cams,+3 TB, and PCV. Little bit of a backstory, the bike had the big bore kit on it when I bought it from the previous owner about 3 years ago. Guy broke both legs at work and wasn't able to ride anymore so I picked it up with 1.2 hours on the new engine. Since then all other parts have been acquired by... New Colorado Member ..read more

What's changed over the years?

I'm looking at used raptors. From 2020 all the way down to 2008 on marketplace. I know they are basically the same. And I know the difference between the R and R SE. When buying used, apart from hours on the bike, is there any reason to stay away from the older years? Looks like I can save 5k buy just going from a 20s to the 2010s. If they are clean and well taken care of is there any reason to stay away ..read more

Hi guys. Working on an early 660, no airbox (has k&n style filter), hmf exhaust, dj needles, dj 146/148, 25 pilots. Pilot screws are 2.75 turns out. Bike runs great till about 1/4 throttle then it starts cutting out. Have adjusted the needle clips to richen/lean it but didn’t notice any difference. Also have bypassed the pb and reverse limiters. Tried dg 148-150 and 144/146 mains but didn’t notice a change. What am I missing? And ideas would be appreciated ..read more

Just bought a 660r, it needs lots of work to be working right but I got it cheap($500 from a buddy) and most of the work is cosmetic and some rust on the frame. But I’m here to see if I can turn this 660r into a 700r se gytr. Heard the 700 is the best that Yamaha has to offer but I don’t got the bread for a new 700 right now. I also like that I’ll be building a quad from almost ground up. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions as to how to do this please let me know. Im trying to make this... Working on an older 660. Parked it a couple months ago and clutch worked fine, fired it up yesterday to bring it in the garage and the clutch won’t disengage. Tightened the cable to have about 1/8” of play and no difference, is the clutch toast? Cant understand how it was perfectly fine when I parked it and now it won’t disengage. Btw cable pulls smooth and lever on the case moves smoothly ..read more

Might be a stupid question, but I’m just looking for someone else’s input on how to adjust my carburetor to handle the elevation change. I’m assuming I let the Rappy run lean at 800’ and as elevation rises it’ll just running a little more rich or do I need tune Mid ride Don’t know what’s been done to the internals, but I have the needle set at notch 4. Don’t know what size the Jets are and I have my air/fuel mixture left to right: 2 1/4 - 2 1/2 runs great at 800’ maybe a little rich tho. I... Elevation adjustments 800-5300 ..read more
