Senior year is known to be one of the most fun and stressful years of a student’s high school career. The Seminole Athletic Conference is a Individual Based Tournament that includes all the schools in Seminole county. The teams include Hagerty, Winter Springs, Lake Mary, Lake Brantley, Lyman, Lake Howell, Seminole, and Oviedo highschool. This tournament includes jv and varsity boys, and girls varsity. Jv boys competed on friday, and varsity boys and girls competed saturday. Symposium is an annual tradition at Oviedo where AP Seminar, AP Research, experimental research, culinary, photography, and art students have the opportunity to exhibit their work and talents to their peers. “I felt like I was on top of the world for a couple minutes.” — Kiara Hernandez-Crespo   With the addition of flag football to Seminole County, it was expected that there would be a lot of firsts. And at the Oviedo vs. Hagerty game on February 20th, Oviedo took many of those firsts. After about two weeks of practice, Oviedo’s girls faced Hagerty at the first-ever girl’s flag football game with Oviedo’s players. This year, Oviedo’s wrestling team competed against Olympia High School for the annual senior night dual. Oviedo has 9 seniors for the 2023-2024 season, meaning a larger class is going to be leaving the team the following year. In May 2023, Oviedo High School confirmed that they would have a girls flag football team for the spring season of 2024. And with the start of this new school year, Oviedo’s female athletes now have a chance to compete for a spot on the team, and to make history at their school. To prepare for tryouts, Coach Odierno, the head coach of the boys varsity football and girls flag football teams, held conditioning two to three days a week for two weeks. From the addition of a new head coach to acquiring multiple new transfer players, the Oviedo Varsity Boys Basketball team may look a little different this year.
