Breeding back to back heats with dams has been a topic of heavy discussion in the past; but with the help of research we are able to confidently say that skipping heats is no longer best practice for dams optimal health, for several reasons. History shows the Parti Poodle as the original poodle. When describing, drawing and painting poodles from the 1400s to 1800s the color was most often parti-colored. In fact, the first ever dog book for the United States of America has a parti-colored poodle for "The Poodle".
